Prairie Hog Country Magazine

Prairie Hog Country Magazine Your independent connection to the Western Canadian Hog Industry. Distributed direct to all producers including Hutterite Colonies six times per year.

Personally, I am so excited for 2021 as that will mark the 25th Anniversary of Prairie Hog Country. A small trade publication that has grown and earned the respect of both producers and industry, all the while maintain the grass routes style. The editorial focus in Prairie Hog Country will endure to cover hog news as it happens in Western Caranda. In addition follow up coverage of seminars, meetin

gs and symposiums. Including but not limited to Banff Pork Seminar, Saskatchewan Pork Industry Symposium, Manitoba Swine Seminar and Red Deer Swine Technology Work Shop. Prairie Hog Country, continues to attend and maintain a booth presence at trade shows, the only Western Canadian hog magazine to do so. The format of Prairie Hog Country is newsprint core with gloss cover and centre section. Prairie Hog Country is distributed six times per year, this allows us to keep producers informed. 4009 copies are delivered direct to hog producers, Hutterite Colonies and industry representatives. Three of the six editions we print extra copies to take with to trade shows, February-March (to Cramer Expo in Swift Current), June -July (to Alberta Pork Congress in Red Deer), and December-January (to Prairie Livestock Expo in Winnipeg). Advertising is the best way to keep your product and/or service out infront of the customers eyes. As our annual readership survey revealed 92% of readers stated that advertisements do influence their purchasing decisions. You want to make sure ad is seen, Prairie Hog Country remains the prefered Western Canadian Hog Magazine. Attached are the release dates for 2016, the prices have had a slight increase, first one in three years. As always we welcome input, story suggestions and we have from the very beginning included new product information along with industry appointments. We’ve all been concerned about high food prices recently, but did you know some cuts of pork have actually become less expensive? πŸ€”

Statistics Canada data shows pork shoulders cost 14% less and pork ribs cost 13% less compared to March 2020. πŸ“‰

With summer right around the corner, that’s great news, if you plan to BBQ for family and friends! πŸ”₯

Not to mention, pork’s packed with protein and B-vitamins, along with being a good source of essential minerals like iron, magnesium and zinc. It’s an excellent choice for people of all ages and genders. πŸ’ͺ
