Founded in 2012, the label's mission was simple: to create, produce, and promote original music across the vibrant spectrum of jazz, from straight-ahead to modern, contemporary, and smooth jazz. PNP JAZZ is committed to championing both local and international talent, offering a platform to showcase their unique voices and reach new audiences. We believe in fostering a community where the love of

jazz thrives, where creativity is nurtured, and where the music speaks for itself. After a period of hiatus from 2015 to early 2021, PNP JAZZ is back with renewed energy and a passion for rediscovering the magic of jazz. We are slowly re-entering the market, bringing fresh sounds and exciting collaborations to the forefront of the jazz world. THE PRAYER

Le 13 septembre dernier (il y a un mois aujourd'hui), j'étais en studio avec le célèbre ingénieur du son Bill Szawlowski (Marjo "Chats Sauvage", April Wine, Mahogony Rush, et bien d'autres) pour mixer la chanson "The Prayer" mettant en vedette Sylvie DesGroseilliers et Perry Canestrari du spectacle,"Les Chansons Qu’on Aime". La vidéo de cette chanson sera bientôt disponible. Nous avons déjà publié d'autres vidéos de ce spectacle que vous pouvez regarder et écouter sur la page Facebook de PNP JAZZ. Amusez-vous!

Last September 13 (One month ago today) I was in the studio with the renowned recording engineer, Bill Szawlowski (Marjo “Chats Sauvage”, April Wine, Mahogany Rush, and many more)mixing the song, “The Prayer” featuring Sylvie DesGroseilliers and Perry Canestrari from the show, “Les Chansons Qu’on Aime”. Jacques Masson : Un Légende du Jazz Québécois

Jacques Masson est un batteur et pédagogue de renom qui a marqué la scène jazz québécoise depuis les années 70. Il a partagé la scène avec des figures emblématiques comme Oliver Jones, Michel Donato et Charly Biddle, et a accompagné de nombreux musiciens de jazz américains à Montréal.

Sa carrière impressionnante comprend de multiples performances au Festival de Jazz de Montréal, une performance mémorable en 1994 au Montreal DrumFest qui lui a valu des commandites de UFIP Cymbals et Premier Percussion, et un engagement indéfectible envers l'éducation musicale.

Depuis 1975, Jacques est un professeur respecté au niveau collégial, dirigeant le cours de batterie au Collège Lionel-Groulx depuis 1982. Il est également auteur publié, avec deux livres de batterie, « Jeux Rythmiques » et « Coordinations Mélodiques à la Batterrie », qui témoignent de son expertise.

Au-delà de la batterie, Jacques est aussi un compositeur chevronné, ayant obtenu son baccalauréat en composition et arrangement jazz de l'Université Concordia. Son parcours musical incarne le dévouement, l'art et une passion indéfectible pour le jazz.

Jacques Masson: A Canadian Jazz Legend

Jacques Masson is a renowned drummer and educator with a rich history in the Canadian jazz scene. He's shared the stage with iconic figures like Oliver Jones, Michel Donato, and Charly Biddle, and has accompanied numerous American jazz musicians in Montreal.

His impressive career includes multiple performances at the Montreal Jazz Festival, a memorable 1994 performance at Montreal DrumFest which earned him sponsorships from UFIP Cymbals and Premier Percussion, and a dedicated commitment to music education.

Since 1975, Jacques has been a respected teacher at the college level, leading the drum class at Lionel-Groulx College since 1982. He's also a published author, with two drum books, "Jeux Rythmiques" and "Coordinations Mélodiques à la Batterrie," showcasing his expertise.

Beyond drumming, Jacques is also a skilled composer, having earned his bachelor's degree in jazz composition and arranging from Concordia University. His musical journey embodies dedication, artistry, and a lifelong passion for jazz.
