November is my birth month. And every day, I’ll post the people I connected with that makes me think and feel better.

This is Mariana Rosa de Carvalho., one of our KNB pioneers. She’s the kind of person you want to be around with—a big, beautiful heart. 💖

During our starting days in our KNB group —she was one of my active support online and a networking buddy. She’s like an accelerator giving me the energy to go and network!

I tell you, finding a networking buddy who shares similar values from the start until eight months later …

-still there for you
-the group’s mission
-and a buddy…
is one of the best gifts in my life.

I am grateful I have you right from the beginning, Mariana. I don’t ever feel alone in this initiative and journey as a newcomer.

With you, you’re like a guiding light, making sure everyone feels a part of the KNB family. ❤️

These people in one event is the result of doing ‘underground work’ for 9 months…

I realized that if I want to find the people I want to connect, build relationships, and expand my nextwork would take an active and different approach.

But why ‘underground’? Because this journey has been about more than just meeting people. It’s been about finding those unique individuals who inspire and elevate – the kind of people you want to connect with forever.

And I also realized that having them solely don’t feel complete. I have to do something about it...

Thus, Cocktails & Icebreakers with Kingston NetworkBuddy on November 17 is the result.

This event wasn’t just about networking; it was the culmination of nine months of dedicated, ‘underground’ work.

It’s the gift of connections - the opportunity to expand our horizons and form bonds that might not have been possible otherwise.

It is such an honor to have YOU in my life. ❤️

Together with our amazing who dedicated their time to make this happen... especially to Karan Pal Singh who made sure that all 80+ guests were attended to from the food to the venue… 🫡

Here’s to the power of underground work in networking, the joy of sharing connections, and the endless possibilities that come from bringing diverse, inspiring people together in one room.

This is just the beginning. 🙏🏻

November is my birth month. And everyday (I missed Friday ☺️), I’ll post the people I connected with that makes me think and feel better.

This Saturday, Karan Pal, just helped me , KNB, and the guests… a total of 86 attendees feel taken care of from the venue to the food.

I am lucky to have you as a classmate, a networking buddy, a friend.

I will treasure this experience how you made us feel, KP. A great KNB member.

As said in his book, “What’s In It For Them,”

“By reducing others’ suffering, you become a magnetic and valuable person whom people value and want to collaborate with. And through the rich relationships you form in this way and the doors these relationships open, you reduce your own suffering, improve your own life, and make the world a better place.”

Before Kingston NetworkBuddy (KNB) was a reality…

there was a simple need for deeper connections among international students and newcomers in Kingston.

Without a grand vision, I simply asked.

I asked peers to join me at networking events.

I asked them to be part of a WhatsApp group, a direct line to the pulse of Kingston's networking scene.

I asked for people’s LinkedIn or email after meeting them regardless of the space and time, for connections to ensure we wouldn't be forgotten after a brief encounter.

I asked for collaborations.

These small, seemingly simple asks laid the groundwork for what would become KNB.

It's a young community, just nine months old, growing with each new conversation and connection.

We're learning as we go, embracing the trials and errors of building a vibrant group.

KNB's story is about the unexpected power of asking.

It's about taking small steps, stepping beyond comfort zones, and seeking more.

We're a budding space where shared interests and the pursuit of growth bring us together.

The advice for those looking to step into a world of new possibilities is straightforward: Just ask.

The journey to connection, growth, and opportunity starts with the courage to make that first request.

What does 15 Networking Adventures in 9 Months feel like?

It feels JOY.

-Meeting familiar faces at networking events is always a joy, but it's more than just typical networking—it's like a warm homecoming.

-It's making you not take the chance to reconnect and connect with people for granted.

It feels REJUVINATING.

-Attending each month takes enormous effort to present your best self and with many to-dos. But at the end of the networking, it's giving you the super boost of 270mg of caffeine. 😁
