Last week, another astounding Titan athlete, Ava Young, officially signed to play NCAA Division 1 Soccer next year with Quinnipiac University ⚽️📝

Ava's speed, agility, and intelligence on the pitch have made a huge impact on her soccer teams, as well as field hockey and flag football teams. Ava is a stand-out player and will no doubt continue to shine at the next level ⚽️📝

Winter Sports Media Day BTS ❄️📸

Here's a behind the scenes look at our Winter Sports Media Day from yesterday. Athletes from Boys Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Varsity Hockey, Wrestling, and Swim Teams got some time in the spotlight with our TNT photographers ❄️📸

Media Day allows our photographers and Comm Tech Students practice their skills in photography, editing, directing, and graphic design. These images will be used for promotions, posters, and updates around our school ❄️📸

Do You Hear What I Hear? ✨️🎼

For the past two weeks, the BT Band, Choir, and Music Group have been touring our feeder schools, bringing Christmas Cheer for all to hear. Last night, 'Here They Came a-Caroling' in our cafetorium to play in front of friends, family, and the BT Community 🥁🎼

These talented Titans have dedicated hours to their craft, diligently perfecting their skills, and courageously sharing them with us on stage. Special thanks to Mrs. Pauletto for MCing last night's event and the feeder school performances, family, friends, and staff for their support, and of course, Mrs. Belshaw for her commitment to her students in fostering their love of music 🔔🎼

Special Olympics & Winter Sports Pep Rally ❄️

This week, we cheered on our Winter Sports Teams as they kick off their seasons in ice hockey, boys basketball, special olympics basketball, girls volleyball, wrestling, and swimming ❄️

To get in the competitive spirit, members of the Boys Basketball team went head to head in a shooting competition, with the winner ultimately playing against Mr. Suva. The Senior Girls Volleyball team also showed us their focus, precision, and coordination as they passed the ball back and forth while putting on a hoodie without letting the ball drop ❄️

BT also hosted Special Olympics basketball this week. Thanks to all schools who participated and we look forward to bocce in February ❄️

We look forward to another Titan-Sized season of sports. Go Titans! ❄️

CHAMPIONS 🏆🏈

Last night, our Junior Boys Football Team brought the trophy back home, defeating SJHN 36-20 in Titans territory 🏆🏈

An incredible UNDEFEATED season finished GOLDEN for these boys, for the first time since 2010 🏆🏈

The future of BT Football is only getting stronger, creating a legacy with teams as special as this one 🏆🏈

Signed 📝🏐

Together with her family, friends, teammates, and coaches, BT's volleyball phenom and national prospect, Avaya Maga, made her official signing with the University of Oklahoma today 📝🏐

As one of the most highly touted setters in Canada, Avaya has led her teams to greatness. As a Titan, she competed in back-to-back Senior Girls Volleyball City Championships, GHAC championships, and brought home an OFSAA gold and silver medal. Alongside her volleyball success, she also played in two consecutive Junior Girls Basketball Championships, winning the 2022 title 📝🏐

Avaya also sets her teammates up for success at the National level. This elite athlete has played on both Team Ontario and Team Canada, winning the U17 Canada Cup, and as a captain of the U18 team, brought home silver, qualifying for the U19 World Championships in Croatia and Serbia this July 📝🏐

Avaya is the definition of a STUDENT-athlete as she excels both in the classroom and on the court. Consistently ranking top 3 in her class, Avaya has received the Director's Award every year. Her pursuit of a D1 scholarship has also begun much SOONER than most. Through sacrificing much of her summer breaks, Avaya has enrolled in courses to finish high school in just 3½ years and will begin her college journey at OU at the start of second semester. This highlights not only her remarkable skill on the court but also her intelligence, discipline, and incredible dedication to both academics and sport 📝🏐

Diabetes Awareness 🩵💙

Today, our Titans traded their burgundy for blue in support of World Diabetes Awareness Day 💙🩵

World Diabetes Day takes place on November 14th each year because it is the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin with Charles Best in 1921. This finding transformed diabetes from a deadly illness to one that can now be controlled 🩵💙

On this morning's announcements, Janica, a grade 11 BT student who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 14 years ago, shared her experience and some information about the types of blood sugars: "Today we wear blue for World Diabetes Day. World Diabetes Day is all about learning more about diabetes and its effects. Diabetes is an extremely common disease and education is so important." 💙🩵

Academic Awards 🧠✨️

After an incredible week of Championships, today we celebrated our Academic Achievements, proving BT has the Brains as well as the Brawn 🧠💪

Our Director of Education, Mr. David Hansen, was present to deliver the Director's Awards to our honoured recipients. The top 10 students from each grade with the highest averages were also acknowledged for their academic successes of the 2023-24 school year 🧠✨️

Special thanks to our staff and Prefects for organizing today's events. To our wonderful teachers for educating our Titans. And most importantly, thank you parents -- you are your children's first teachers and whom they learn from the most 🧠💛

Congratulations, Titans! You've dedicated countless hours to your studies and it has paid off. Your future is so bright 🧠✨️

3-PEAT 🏆🏈

Tonight, your Senior Boys Football Team completed Championship 3-Peat-Week with a thrilling comeback to defeat STM 33-26 for their 3RD CITY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN A ROW! 🏆🏈

The Titans gave fans a scare as a nail-biting 1st half saw us down 12-3, and with a quick TD from the Knights to fall back as far as 19-3. But BT wasn't going to let that be the nail in the coffin. Titans dug deep and fired up the offense to finally find themselves in the endzone again and again. Tonnos clawed back with unreal interceptions and defensive play to keep the trophy home 🏆🏈

The road continues for the Titans as they play in the GHAC semi-final on Wednesday, November 15th at 2pm on our BT field 🏆🏈

Last night, our Junior Girls Basketball team closed out their dominant, UNDEFEATED season at home to win the CHAMPIONSHIP against STM 58-14 🏆🏀

Our Titans made no mistake as to who was going home with GOLD this year. The girl's tough defensive play held every team they faced to under 20 points. Unreal! 🏆🏀

Last night, the Junior Boys Volleyball Team won their 3RD CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW against SJB 3-1 on their home court 🏆🏐

The Titans went nearly undefeated this season, suffering only one loss to the Braves, making this GOLDEN win sweet redemption 🏆🏐

Thanks to coaches, Mrs. Pauletto and Mr. Luciani for their dedication and guidance in keeping the trophy in Titans territory 🏆🏐

Today, we celebrated our unique heritage and backgrounds for Culture Day, an annual event led by BT's UCDC - Unified Cultures and Diversity Club 🇨🇵🇯🇲🇮🇹

Students volunteered to bring food items to share during lunch periods, dressed in clothing that represents their culture, and marked where they are from on a map in the foyer 🇬🇷🇪🇸🇧🇷

Yesterday afternoon, we wrapped up BT's 20th Anniversary Week with our Charity Buy-Out Football games 🏈

Our teams and Titans fans didn't disappoint as our Seniors beat SJHN 28-10 and our Juniors 35-24 in an exciting double-header on home turf. Both wins have moved our teams into the first place position in each division 🏈

Titans fans brought the energy in the stands and support to charities as ticket proceeds went to DeMazenod Door and United Way 🏈

OFSAA CHAMPS!!! 🏆🏐 Our Lady Titans travelled to Barrie to compete in the 3 day AAA Provincial Tournament. Seeded at #8 out of 20 teams, your girls came out on top with the #1 spot! 🏆🏐 It was a point for point battle vs. Pickering's Dunbarton HS that played out in all 5 sets, with the Titans taking it home 15-11 in the final 🏆🏐 The first ever OFSAA banner for BT Girls Volleyball and the second we've taken home this year in sports.
