Attached you will find the brand new poster for the Winter 2020 Rural History Roundtable Speakers Series. We have some very exciting upcoming talks, including this Thursday, February 27! Dr. Cynthia Prescott will be delivering a talk titled, "Pioneer Mother Monuments and U.S. Cultural Memory," at the Robert Whitelaw Room 246A (McLaughlin library), from 2:30-4:00pm. We hope you will be able to join us!

A friendly reminder that tomorrow, November 29, the Rural History Roundtable welcomes our final speaker of the 2019 fall series, Taylor Graham. Taylor is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph. She is also a writer, director, producer, and an artistic associate at Pat the Dog Theatre Creation. Taylor's talk, "Theatre From the Fields: An Investigation into The Farm Show," will be held in the MacKinnon Building, room 132, from 2:30-4:00p.m. We hope you will be able to join us!

A friendly reminder that tomorrow, November 14, the Rural History Roundtable welcomes our second speaker of the 2019 fall series, Dr. Peter Stevens. Dr. Stevens is a professor of Liberal Studies at Humber College and has completed major research projects on the history of family cottaging in Ontario. We are pleased to share our line-up of speakers for the Fall 2019 semester. We have some great talks scheduled, including this Wednesday, October 23. Dr. Catharine Wilson, the Francis and Ruth Redelmeier Professor in Rural History at the University of Guelph and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, will be presenting a talk titled, "Airing out the Quilt and the Quilting Bee," in the Mackinnon Building, room 132. We hope you will be able to join us!

A big thank-you to Erin Schuurs for her talk, "'Fiddle-Ins' and Protest Placards: Audience Response to the Controversial Cancellation of Don Messer's Jubilee." On Feb. 7th, Erin discussed the popular CBC television show and the backlash which occurred following its cancelation in 1969 with an audience of Guelph faculty and students.
