What happens when astronauts lose their pressurized suit in space?

They will die. You are right. But they would die in the way you least expect.

The blood and water in their body, their eyeballs and their bile will boil furiously and their nose and mouth will freeze. That's how they will die. And the death will take about 2 minutes, so it's a painful, slow death.

Why?

Though Space is cold, it is a vacuum. It has no air like Earth. There's no atmosphere and no pressure exerted by air molecules. And since there is no atmosphere, the boiling point of liquid changes.

The continuous boiling of water would also produce a cooling effect. Through the effect, evaporation of water molecules would absorb heat energy from the body and would cause the parts near the nose and mouth to nearly freeze. The remainder of the body would also cool off.

The Mystery of Tarare's Stomach

Tarare is an 18th century, showman who could eat nonstop and still be hungry. He could finish a whole cow in 24 hours.

When his parents couldn't cope with his insatiable appetite, they kicked him out of the house.Tarare joined a circus and started eating for entertainment.

In the circus, there was no limit to what he eats. He would eat live animals, food, heaps of garbage, stone, wood, iron and other inedible things.

Later, even Tarare himself became tired of himself. So, he went to the hospital in search for solutions to his appetite. He spent several months in the hospital waiting for answers and solutions, but instead of solutions he did the unimaginable.

He ate several dead bodies in the hospital's mortuary. He was also accused of eating a live baby.

Never mind that Tarrare ate food that's enough to feed a small village, he barely weighed 100 pounds. He is thin and looks malnourished. Nothing in his appearance shows he has been eating nonstop.

"When he ate, he would blow up like a balloon, especially in his stomach region. But shortly after, he would step into the bathroom and release nearly everything, leaving behind a mess that the surgeons described as “fetid beyond all conception.”

Later when Tarrare died of tuberculosis, doctors and surgeons did autopsy and discovered that Tarrare's esophagus was so large, they could look directly into his stomach when they open his mouth.

Till today, Tarrare's case remains an unsolved mystery to the medical world.

Strange Life of Zebras

We always see zebras as gentle animals. But zebras aren't that gentle when it comes to breeding and control in the jungle.

One male zebra (a stallion) controls at least 6 female zebras (mares) as his wives. This male zebra is dominant— he keeps all the 6 female zebras to himself. He alone mates with them for breeding.

If bachelor zebras come near his harem (wives) it would lead to a serious fight that involves brutal kicking and biting. Any zebra that wins the fight becomes the new husband of all the female zebras in the harem. So, the dominant male zebra must fight with all his strength to make sure no bachelor zebra takes over his wives.

If unfortunately the dominant zebra loses in the fight, he leaves his wives to the winner and go back to join a group of bachelor zebras and losers.

Things can take a dark turn after the fight. If the wives of the former dominant zebra has children (foals), the new husband may kill all the little zebras to erase the traces of the former husband and to get the harem pregnant.

If the new dominant zebra doesn't kill all the little zebras, the female zebras in the harem will not get pregnant because their body isn't designed to go into mating mode when they still have babies to take care of. If a mare gives birth, she doesn't get pregnant until her baby is old enough to take care of itself.

That's why the new husband must kill the babies of the former husband to have his own children. And if the dominant male discovers that the female still carries the pregnancy of the former husband, he will aggressively mate with her in order to force her to have miscarriage.
