Next on ! , Alberta has a proud, vibrant theatre tradition that dates back a century or more. However, the community also got, well…a much more nefarious reputation from a hundred years back -- it was the site of one of Canada's most notorious crime sprees.

Two long-time members of Grande Prairie's theatre community have applied their talents to exploring and dramatizing the story of what remains the biggest unsolved mass murder in Alberta's history.

After pouring years into extensive research, sound design, voice acting, and production, Grande Prairie's Chris Beauchamp and Cris Seppola have just launched the three-part true crime narrative podcast, Blood on the Prairie Podcast.

CKUA’s brings us more on the Northern Albertan true-crime series, Thursday March 24 at 8:45 AM (MT).

You may have noticed there was no new episode today, and this picture is why. Fresh from the Alberta Provincial Archives is a whole new stack of research materials just waiting to be transformed into more of this intriguing story.

The volume of information about this case is absolutely enormous, and it keeps on coming as we make more discoveries. This new stack has some interesting info that we feel we must add to Episode 4 (and beyond); doing this story justice is our priority over a perfectly curated schedule.

So, we hope you agree: As we expand on this story, as we learn more, as we dig ever deeper, it will be worth it. Thanks so much for listening to now. We appreciate your support and are working hard to create more episodes that take you back to 1918 and the story of Alberta's largest unsolved mass murder.

Ignace Patan loved his dog. He would show the dog off every chance he got, and it's true that the dog was loyal to a fault.

The Patan Homestead was a social place, and often 'The Patan Outfit' was seen hanging out there. In fact, this 'Outfit' was planning to head out of the area to explore other money-making options. Sadly, they never left.

Ignace was the only murder victim that was killed in a unique way compared to the others, leading us to wonder... does his method of death give us a clue to the motive behind the murders?

Meet Stanley Snyder

Nephew to Joseph Snyder, Stanley (sometimes referred to as 'Emmett') Snyder was murdered along with is uncle sometime during the night of June 18th, 1918.

Stanley was known to be a calming force on his sometimes hotheaded uncle. They lived together on Joseph's homestead, and his body was found in Joseph's burning house on the night of their murder. However, the fire was not the cause of his death...

Born to Mennott "Menno" and Mary Ann (Webber) Snyder, Stanley moved from Waterloo, Ontario to live with his uncle and experience the pioneer lifestyle with his Uncle.
