Tucked away in the heart of Banff National Park, you’ll find Lake Agnes Tea House—a cozy spot that feels like a slice of mountain paradise. Since way back in 1901, this rustic gem has been serving up homemade treats and piping hot tea to hikers who make the trek up from Lake Louise.Getting there is half the adventure! The hike is a bit of a climb, but totally worth it. You’ll wind through lush forests, past waterfalls, and finally, you’ll catch your first glimpse of the tea house perched beside the stunning Lake Agnes.Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by the smell of fresh-baked goodies and the sound of laughter from fellow adventurers. Take a seat on the sunny terrace or cozy up by the fireplace inside. The menu’s full of hearty sandwiches, delicious pastries, and of course, a great selection of teas from all over. It’s more than just a place to refuel—it’s a spot to relax, take in the views, and maybe even make some new friends. Whether you’re enjoying a cuppa with friends or treating yourself to a slice of homemade pie, a visit to Lake Agnes Tea House is the perfect way to recharge before hitting the trails again.

Banff National Park Minnewanka boat cruise. Travel to the mountains 🏔️
I was getting tired this winter of days spent planning craft activities and creative free play opportunities for the boys. Even trips to the park can be overstimulating at times when it is busy. With Cam working shift work and long hours, I decided to take the boys out solo hiking. Heading out to the trails alone might sound like a lot of work, and it is! But the peace we experience while enjoying nature is like no other, and the creativity that blooms is incredible. I had a couple options picked out for our first adventure and was disappointed when two of them did not have winter road access. So I decided to start exploring and sharing every easy hike in Kananaskis country. When I say easy, I mean EASY. I think back to trails I have recommended as easy in the past, and even some of those I would not want to tackle with both boys on my own…yet! So follow along @ritzroams while I document every easy hike in Kananaskis. They will be around 5km in length, and around 100m or less in elevation gain.
