For one week of the year, a midway sets up shop down the street from my house, and thousands of people pile in to go on rides until the sun goes down.
It's weird to be so up close to it because there's a livestock component, so I can hear cows mooing occasionally and it smells like... agriculture when there's a stiff breeze.
Also, there's a near-constant sound of children screaming in terror from the rides.
Yesterday, I could hear a child yelling, "MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP!"
It got me thinking about how the fair comes to town, the carnies sell their tickets, entice people to throw a dart for a stuffie, and then leave before the dust has settled.
It's a whirlwind of excitement, but they're here one minute and gone the next.

Here are the 3 biggest misses I see Financial Advisors make on LinkedIn. Do you make these mistakes?
(First of allā¦ these are super common! Nothing wrong with you if you make these mistakes.
Second of allā¦ itās hard to know WHAT to do! When I was in the industry, I was convinced I could crack the code to getting HNW clients from social media marketing. We tried. Every. Thing. And got some leads but not HNW and not consistently. Corporate marketing wasā¦ š¬š¬ not helpful.)
Ok, here are the 3 biggest missteps I see advisors make and why social media isnāt generating results (AKA: leads)!
1. Only sharing industry related news.
2. Gatekeeping articles.
3. Thinking posting regularly is enough to get high networth clients.
Letās dig in:
1. You already know youāre in the relationship business. If you only talked about retirement planning to the other parents in your kidās soccer league, youād turn everyone off. Same on social media.
2. I LOVE the idea of delivering value in exchange for someoneās email address (thatās a huge way I get quality leads for my clients) but a news article is not the ticket. Iām willing to live debate anyone who feels Iām wrong about this.
3. I WISH this was true! My job would be so much easier! But itās not. You have to implement other modern digital marketing strategies AS WELL as a strong content strategy.
