On the evening of Wednesday, June 5 an extensive water main break occurred in Bowness: on 16th Ave between Home Road and Sarcee Trail. Residents are asked to avoid this area. This is a significant break on a critical water main that moves water across the city.
Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions are in effect.
This means that OUTDOOR WATER USE IS NOT PERMITTED, enforceable by the Water Utility Bylaw, and is in place until further notice.
At this time DO NOT:
▪️ Water lawns, gardens, trees & shrubs by any method.
▪️ Wash down any outdoor surfaces unless your business requires to for health & safety reasons.
▪️ Wash cars
To conserve water while we repair our water main, we are asking all Calgarians to immediately limit their indoor water use by taking the following voluntary actions:
▪️ Delay using your dishwasher and washing machine.
▪️ Limit shower times and keeping baths shallow.
▪️ Turn off humidifiers and ice machines
▪️ Turn off water tap when not in use.
