ON SOTITOBIRE FREEDOM
Sequel to the Appeal Court judgment that discharged and acquitted Prophet Alfa Babatunde of Sotitobire Church in Akure, he has regained his freedom on Tue, 7th Dec 2021.
From Pulpit to Prison!
Nov 10, 2019: On a regular Sunday service at the Sotitobire Church, the mother of a toddler, Gold Kolawole, raised an alarm that her child was missing from the children's church. So many stories are attached to this. The father of the missing child was allegedly involved in many shady deals. Still, the DSS refused to investigate him as he was shielded by the sacked Attorney General, Kola Olawoye. The parents accused the prophet of taking their child even when they established that he was on the altar, far from the children's department.
They ran to the DSS and a popular mischief journalist to get sympathy. Many people sympathized and empathized with them. Who wouldn't? An innocent child. Especially when the mother claimed she couldn't have another child again because she did CS. How can a mother know the exact time (in hours and minutes) that her child got missing if not that she's been expecting it, even though that's the first time she took the child to the children's church? It will be interesting to know the truth. It's a matter of little time.
What a Journey!
Dec 10, 2019: Contrary to the report of his arrest by Dss, Prophet Alfa Babatunde and his lawyer honoured the DSS invitation on Dec 10, 2019, about an alleged missing child in his church. Consequently, the DSS took him to his church and house to ransack and pick implicating pieces. Unfortunately, there was no evidence or implicating pieces as he maintained his innocence and no link to the alleged crime. He said he called on the child's parents to come and pray and cooperate with the police to unravel the mystery of the child's disappearance but they refused to come but resorted to blackmail.
Dec 18, 2019: Relying on false news perpetrated by perceived enemies of the prophet and aired by a famous media org, the people of Akure burnt the Sotitobire Church and looted ALL the church properties. They equally went to the Prophet's house and looted his properties. The very moment the church got burnt, the parents stopped looking for their alleged missing child (they've since had another child, nine months into the trial).
Dec 23, 2019: After 13 days of one-sided investigation and detention, the DSS took Prophet Alfa Babatunde to court for "aiding and abetting, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping." The State High Court remanded him in Olokuta prison all through the trials.
Oct 6, 2020: Justice Segun Odusola of Akure high court sentenced the Prophet and five others to life imprisonment on circumstantial evidence... 🤔
The judge, however, discharged the person that DSS allegedly said destroyed their evidence.
So, what evidence did the judge rely upon... Circumstances, hearsay, and sentiment?
Throughout the secretive court proceedings, the DSS couldn't produce a piece of single evidence against him because there was none.
My take at that time was that the court couldn't establish that the prophet and the church teachers had any link to the child, the court couldn't establish if the child was alive or not, the court couldn't establish if the child were kidnapped or not. If you're saying Mr. A conspired and aided whoever to kidnap, but you can't prove it beyond reasonable doubts, who then did the kidnapping, and where's the kidnapped victim? Conspired with who... Nobody. The trial judge at the High Court ought to have vacated his seat in a sane society. He desecrated the Bench.
Dec 3, 2021: Appeal court sitting in Akure quashed the lower court decision, discharged and acquitted the Prophet. The court said he has no link to the alleged crime and has no case to answer.
Dec 7, 2021: After proper documentation, Prophet Alfa Babatunde regained his freedom and left the Olokuta Correctional Facility, jubilating and giving thanks to God. He equally prayed that God who saved him would expose the matter and everyone behind it.
I know emotions are still very high, and sentiments are still in place.
👉 Let the church that prayed for their Prophet continue to pray for the missing child's whereabouts. God has not finished yet. He will expose every hidden secret and reveal the truth.
👉 Congratulations to Prophet Alfa Babatunde. It's painful to suffer for what you have no involvement or link. Your incarceration is purposeful. You will recover all in multiple folds. Let the Prophet also move on, and I believe God has just used your enemies to announce you to the world for a more extraordinary assignment. You've become a global priest.
👉 Those who aren't satisfied should just wait a while. The truth will unfold soon. While many are already seeking forgiveness, many will be shocked when the truth unfolds and learn always to seek the truth.
