Why vote for AML?
When, in response to COVID-19, Alberta schools closed on March 16, 2020, Airdrie Music Lessons was prepared to pivot. We switched (literally) over night to on-line lessons & created many additional free on-line clubs (& even a live TV show) to help families adjust to homeschooling & work realities at a time when they faced uncertainty & isolation.
Now, for the 2020/21 academic year, AML has reinvented itself again in response to the ever changing response to C-19. We've invested thousands of dollars in new health & safety equipment and supplies, changed classroom layouts, instituted a series of rigid protocols, and adopted innovated technology to ensure staff and students are safe and healthy.
AML’s innovation, however, began long before 2020. Since 2010, just a few of AML’s innovations include: small group learning, Airdrie event performances, multi-disciplinary summer camps, adding new programs annually, free family workshops, community game room, movie nights, listening parties, staff training/personal dev. programs, recording studio training, social media engagement, free community events, YouTube practice videos, concert days involving hundreds of students & thousands of audience members, growing/transitioning through 3 different locations, and employing Airdrie youth in our Assistant Teacher program.
AML’s holistic program combines traditional & innovative teaching modalities. Our philosophy is that music education is about much more than music; it’s a vehicle to help students build character & skills so they'll become valuable members of the community. We emphasize confidence, community, communication, resilience, tenacity, patience, & courage.
Community is a key AML strength. Students learn to listen & work together, challenge one another to think/grow, make friends & memories in our Game Room, & perform together at large scale events.
