Jamaica Prime Minister Media Briefing on Earthquake
The update from our disaster preparedness and emergency response stakeholders is that preliminary investigations reveal no major damage or dislocation and no loss of life following today’s 5.6 magnitude earthquake.
While the investigations continue, we can report that water, transportation, electricity, and telecommunications infrastructure remain almost entirely intact, with brief loss of power in some instances, and ongoing work to restore services to any affected communities.
Jamaica is a strong and resilient nation; let’s keep safety and preparedness in mind as we return to work and school tomorrow.

President Tsai delivers remarks on the termination of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Honduras
On the morning of March 26, President Tsai Ing-wen delivered recorded remarks on the termination of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Honduras.
A translation of the president's remarks follows:
My fellow citizens:
Good morning.
It is with deep regret that today we end our diplomatic relations with Honduras.
For many years, we have upheld the belief that working within the full extent of our capabilities, and by taking a forward-looking and pragmatic approach, we can support the long-term, substantive development of our diplomatic allies. We will not engage in a meaningless contest of dollar diplomacy with China.
These past few years, China has persistently used any and all means to suppress Taiwan's international participation, intensify its military intimidations against Taiwan, and disrupt regional peace and stability.
But its pressure and coercion will not change the fact that the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other. And they cannot erode the Taiwanese people's staunch commitment to freedom and democracy or our determination to engage wholeheartedly with the world.
The people of Taiwan have proven to the world that we do not give in to threats. Taiwan's connections and cooperation with our diplomatic allies and like-minded countries, and our joint efforts to advance international security and well-being, will only expand and grow stronger.
We will continue to stand with our diplomatic allies and like-minded global partners as we work toward a better future for all.

Introducing the FORCE FOR GOOD crown created by Mouawad
FORCE FOR GOOD CROWN
Miss Universe unveiled “The Crown Number 12: Force for Good,” crafted by our partners, the world-renowned luxury jeweler Mouawad. A unique, bespoke work of art and craft, the Force For Good Crown emanates Mouawad’s passion for crafting the extraordinary, featuring the meticulous setting of sapphires and diamonds, whose design is replete with symbolism. Reflecting the point that significant change does not happen in an instant, the base of the crown is set with diamonds symbolizing the status quo. From the base upwards, rippling wave motifs reflect the momentum of change, with their varying sizes portraying that this momentum gains ground gradually through advocacy at different moments and places, to audiences large and small, over time.
“It has been an honor to craft a new crown for The Miss Universe Organization, and to create a new sparkling chapter in the story of Mouawad Miss Universe crowns, said Mouawad Co-guardian Fred Mouawad. “The Mouawad Miss Universe Force for Good Crown is a work of extraordinary craftsmanship, completely crafted and set and by hand, featuring 108.44 carat of blue sapphire and 48.12 carat of white diamond in a design that evokes the Miss Universe Organization’s belief in a future forged by women who push the limits of what’s possible and the incredible women from around the world who advocate for positive change.”

71ST MISS UNIVERSE CAPE ANNOUNCEMENT
This year Miss Universe is inviting the delegates to personalize their Liva Fluid Fashion capes around a cause that is near to them or their country. We are excited about this new and distinctive element to the MISS UNIVERSE event.
The Swimwear Competition is now a vehicle to learn more about who the delegates are and what they want to say. We are providing a “blank canvas” coverup which, by working with a local artist, will be used to reflect those things which are important to the delegate. The story the delegates choose to tell can be personal, national, or international.
Tune into the Preliminary Competition on January 11th on the official Miss Universe YouTube channel to see these delegates live their flow.

Miss Universe Belize 2022 National Costume
Introducing the official Miss Universe Belize National costume:
The national costume is inspired by the first and only Jaguar Reserve in the world; which is nestled in the luscious rainforest of the Cockscomb Basin in the small Central American country, Belize. Ashley, like the Jaguar, is stealth and graceful in her movement. Like the Jaguar that prowls under the moonlight and protects itself and its young, Ashley’s light burns for the advocacy that is her passion; Women in STEM with a concentration on Math. Like the Jaguar that is calculating in its movements, Ashley is the calculating force breaking through the darkness to bring young Belizean women into the light of Women in STEM.
This costume depicts the Jaguar in its natural habitat glistening under the moonlight. Ashley is clothed from head to toe in a beaded jaguar print leotard, thigh high boots and accentuated by a tropical flora back piece and a lighted moon, with the Jaguar’s head prominently displayed on her body. Ashley’s height and sleek body perfectly portrays the agility of the Jaguar in its natural habitat. Like the Jaguar, Ashley’s onyx eyes penetrate through the darkness to bring light to the young women she mentors.

Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan Issues Update
I want everyone who is dealing with the problems we've been facing, whether you haven't been able to get to where you need to go or you’re one of our heroic Employees caught up in a massive effort to stabilize the airline, to know is that we're doing everything we can to return to a normal operation.
And please also hear that I'm truly sorry.
Here's why this giant puzzle is taking us several days to solve. Southwest is the largest carrier in the country, not only because of our value and our values, but because we build our flight schedule around communities, not hubs. So, we're the largest airline in 23 of the top 25 travel markets in the U.S.
Cities where large numbers of scheduled flights simultaneously froze as record bitter cold brought challenges for all airlines.
Our network is highly complex and the operation of the airline counts on all the pieces, especially aircraft and crews remaining in motion to where they're planned to go. With our large fleet of airplanes and flight crews out of position in dozens of locations. And after days of trying to operate as much of our full schedule across the busy holiday weekend, we reached a decision point to significantly reduce our flying to catch up.
We're focused on safely getting all of the pieces back into position to end this rolling struggle. You know, I have nothing but pride and respect for the efforts of the people of Southwest who are showing up in every way. The tools we use to recover from disruption serve us well, 99 percent of the time; but clearly, we need to double down on our already existing plans to upgrade systems for these extreme circumstances so that we never again face what's happening right now.
I'm apologizing to them daily and they'll be hearing more about our specific plans to ensure the challenges that they’ve faced the past few days will not be part of our future.
I reached out to Secretary Buttigieg earlier today to continue the discussions we've been having with the DOT through
