Discretion in enforcing laws? Since when is that acceptable?

You know someone committed murder, but he's really a good person so the police can decide to just let it go, right?

You know theft occured, but the person who stole is poor, and the victim is rich, so the police have the discretion to just let it go, right?

How about lockdown, crowd size, and mask laws? You have a group of people not wearing masks, but you have discretion (per the commissioner of police's own words) to not charge them. What kind of law is that? It's obviously not a law against evil.

Bottom line is, laws that the police can apply at their discretion are no laws at all and need to be removed from the books. God has ordained the Government to punish evil and praise what is good. Not use discretion to punish some arbitrary made up rules. That is not from God, and the ones enforcing such unjust laws will answer to God. If you enforce such unjust laws I would argue you are displeasing and disobeying God, because Government has no right to make unjust laws. Who will you obey and serve, God or man?
