I’m just watching from the sidelines. Trajan…5’2”…playing like he 8 feet. Brayson? Improvement is day and night.

Trajan is not here, but I can’t wait to see Brayson show out in the Peewee Basketball Invitational- Belize.

Conquering Lions Academy…🫡

Two of Belize’s rising basketball talents are already making their mark abroad. Trajan Meighan (12) and Brayson Williams (11) delivered an outstanding performance at a prestigious U12 tournament in the United States, helping their team finish the opening stop of the Regional Series with a perfect 4–0 record.

After a full week of preparation and hard work, the young standouts showed poise and skill beyond their years, setting the tone for the remainder of the season.

The Regional Series is a key pathway to Nationals in South Carolina, where teams earn points at each stop toward qualification. With upcoming tournaments in Kansas City this March and Oklahoma in May, Meighan and Conquering Lions standout Williams will have more chances to strengthen their push toward a Nationals berth.

Qualifying for Nationals would be a major milestone, placing the team on a national stage as a Jr. 3SSB program and matching them against the best U12 teams across the country. The exposure alone is invaluable—and these young Belizeans are just getting started.

The journey continues, and Belize will be watching. 🔥

William Dawson Sprite Basketball Tournament Comes to an End; Tuff E Nuff Crowned Champions

The William Dawson Sprite Basketball Tournament concluded in thrilling fashion, with rookie team Tuff E Nuff emerging as champions after an intense final showdown.

Earlier in the day, Class finished in fourth place, while the Lords Bank Warriors secured third after winning the opening game, which served as the third-place playoff.

All eyes, however, were on the championship matchup between Don One and first-time tournament entrants Tuff E Nuff. Though labeled a rookie team due to their debut appearance in the William Dawson Sprite Basketball Tournament, Tuff E Nuff proved they were anything but inexperienced, boasting a roster packed with hardworking and talented players.

The championship game went down to the wire, with tensions running high throughout the fourth quarter. Questionable calls sparked reactions from fans and players on both sides, adding to the drama of an already electric atmosphere.

Led by Coach Black and key contributors Francis “90” Arana and Kurt “Chengo” Burgess, along with strong support from the rest of the squad, Tuff E Nuff edged out Don One with a narrow 38–36 victory, earning championship honors and a $5,000 cash prize.

Tournament coordinator Douglas “Dougie Fresh” Hyde expressed gratitude to all partners and supporters, including the Leadership Intervention Unit, Belize Police Department, Digi, Department of Youth Services, Rotary Club of Belize, Ministry of Home Affairs and Enterprises, and longtime partner Sprite (Crystal Bottling), for making the tournament a success.
