Ahmadiyya Basketball League Belize

Participating in an Ahmadiyya has been a long standing dream for the kids. It is THE youth basketball league of Belize. And each year the ability for us to participate has just not come through. Which is frustrating for us all because we have so many active youths training right now; we could easily carry a team for each category: Female, U12, U15, U18, and U22.

Even though we don’t have the budget available again, we just could not let another year pass us without trying to do something. So we rallied together and gathered enough to make one registration. Pulling up our tops from the younger age group up and making one U22 team . We covered the cost of the opening week’s trip to the city and did well with our first two games. With one win by 5 points against IG Ballers in overtime and one loss by five points to the Falcons after a nice battle, having gone into the fourth quarter tied. Both well matched games despite our young line up.

The organizers are doing us a solid and we are able to play two games every other Sunday to cut on the travel costs, but we have at least three more trips up to make and humbly ask for the communities’ support in doing so. It is $750 per trip for transportation, hydration, and lunch for the athletes. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Much love to the Conquering Lions Academy and coach Dianell Handal Brackett for allowing me to accompany them. First to Cozumel and then to Quintana Roo. I feel as if I am a part of the team and I’m grateful to everyone who made it possible.

These pictures show that Chetumal don’t okay about their sports. These guy were putting in work in their own league, and if you saw how they move, trust me - you would be awed.
