For a number of years Young Botswana has been bustling in its push to grow the ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT sector. We have seen the coming thereof of several movements, acts, troupes, crews, artists, dancers, entertainers and enthusiasts alike all attempting to express themselves with little to no platform. Turn to Y2K and the digital revolution has handed back power to these loyal citizens, a generation

ruled and living on the internet in an attempt to maximise exposure to us, YOUNG BOTSWANA. Many have tried with failure to put themselves on platforms that could afford them survival through their art, I am one of those and know first-hand how difficult it is to get that FRONT PAGE, that 25 word insert, that album review, that first-hand account of yourself (the much coveted interview), that attempt to be relevant and make news because YOU ARE THE NEWS and need to be appreciated not because you want to – but because you deserve to be.

ABC crew , Double M Geez , back in a day 1995 , young nikkas findin out what life in da city be . I was me Mc Ren or Cuz da kingpin aka C.U.Z one braided Nikka from the North Westside . Then there was Nipko big Shaka Zulu and Mac Minister aka MacDaddy . Three brothers sent out to the big apple Gabs city learning in the University of Botswana. The duo Mc Ren and Mac packed a punch in a DMGeez style rap crew to take on the city . This emerging the number one rap group winning UB Miss RAG competition and Maitisong competition around 96 and 97. Double M Geez featured in Mbua 99 a Mabua Mabua production that hit the airwaves in 1999 with their famous song Wiggy Wiggy that featured Job Jose. Later on in 2009 Ren Partson released an album titled knock it off ( am not ya league) . This was a Maun Brand addition that featured HT , Trauma, Steez ( RIP) , MIC , Terrence Kgwarae and Big El El Tumo Kenosi from the Fabulous 3sum crew. The hit song Knock it off aired on channel 0 and other streaming platforms while the hit Cheeseboy still plays on Youtube to date ( Google Ren Partson cheeseboy to watch ). Ren became a politician a businessman and remains a musician at heart . This history marks Ren as a go getter, a no quitter , a dream chaser of note and self made hustler , an academia and mastermind entrepreneur and philanthropist. Not only did he found himself but also , ABC crew , Double M Geez and Maun Brand. A hardworking person who also founded SKL Group and reignited BDP The BDP NORTH WEST Region ! Call him anything but I call him the people's person, a loving father , a friend, a good democrat and a self made businessman!
