The BWOB Jamboree, celebrating its 10th year, offers a unique chance for people to reconnect with family and friends while enjoying a blend of entertainment, culture, and local talent. The event is designed to energize Lobatse's economy by creating a space for people to come together, experience new music, fashion, food, and the local arts scene.

Waditso Matong, the founder of BWOB, shared that the event aims to promote a close knit, intimate atmosphere rather than a large-scale festival. “We focus on bringing people together to reconnect with family and friends,” he said. The event's lineup is always local, with performances by artists such as Lefatshe, Frostbite, Basho Vision, Mr. Yano Church, Thuli Tools, De Stinky, and Cedeea, ensuring an authentic experience.

“We are busy opening up parking space to accommodate you. Let’s rock!”

The Jamboree will take place on April 19, 2025, at Pandor Serenity (Pitikwe) in Lobatse, starting at 11:00 AM and running late into the night. The event is expected to draw a crowd from Lobatse, Gabs, Kanye, and the Borolong area, offering an exciting, community oriented experience.

Matong expressed appreciation for their ongoing partnerships with trusted sponsors, such as Blue Crystal Sukiri, Hunter’s Botswana, Lord Cumberland, Botswana Meat Commission, and Bokomo. "Wetsho,
We chop up our time into seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, terms, decades...

We do this to better plan our lives, to mark important occasions, to know when it's time to rest, to know when it's time to celebrate, to work, to get paid and to pay others, to count our blessings, to cast our votes...

Today 2023 will end and tommorow a new year will begin.

I truly believe that 2024 is going to be a very important year, perhaps the most important year since 1966.

Why?

In 1966, we were all poor, but the nation was united by hope.

Looking back, the nation's self-confidence seems to have been based on no more than euphoric optimism. But then, freedom, autonomy and independence are key energizers.

What united the nation in 1966 was the promise of a shared just and equitable future.

2024 in some ways, mirrors 1966. Today, like in 1966, there is a general sense that something new is about to happen, that change is afoot, that a new energy has been ignited, that courage is not lost.

There is a renewed awareness that each one of us is responsible for what happens next.

What is different about 2024 is that we know what is possible, because we have caught a glimpse of what this nation can be.

We know, for example that Molefi Secondary School can be just as good as St Joseph's College.

We know what Princess Marina Hospital can be, because it has been that in the past.

We know that a University of Botswana degree can compete with the best in the world, because it has done so in the past.

We know that there is absolutely no reason why any one should have to wait for more than 10 years before they get a plot, because it never used to be so.

We know that it used to be perfectly ok to criticize government without fear of being arrested or have a family member victimized.

We know that an MP should not be arrested on his doorstep, just because they annoyed a minister.

We know that private phone conversations used to be private phone conversations.

We know that merit is a reasonable, rational, fair and justifiable requirement for advancement in the public service, because we have witnessed its employment.

We know that good governance is a good thing because we have have experienced the lack thereof.

It is because we know all these things that we are convinced that this geographically big country with its small population can, under the right leadership, achieve the yet unrealized dreams and hopes that led to a change of government in 1966.

We know that the courage of 1966 still lives in each one of us!

Leteise On Fleek brings cultural festival back this year November 11th as patrons seems to arrive heavily in African attire at Bojanala Waterfront, Gaborone.

MICAF PICNIC A SUCCESS

MICAF picnic sessions as it never fails, this year’s edition gathered “a sizeable proportion of the population at Wagga Gardens. Undoubtedly the creatives boosts mental health.

Patrons brought palpable energy to the event, sending a night of jubilation over the night. MICAF picnic session featured Ntate Stuna, ATI, Ezra Neethings and Tsaya thobane hit maker Dr Vom, whom put on stunning performance that left audience begging more, followed by Han-C were also favorite of the night.

BEAST TO BE ON FIRE

Kaelo said his upcoming meat festival dubbed Beast On Fire billed for the 28th October at Waterstone Events and Conferencing, is a testament in tourism industry.

In an interview with The Wrap Botswana, Kaelo said preparation for the event are already on full swing after announcing that there will be Rugby World Cup finals screening and still get to meating experience. These include, Game meat, Beef, Chicken, and Lamb.

“Since we are in partnership with Brand Botswana we will be getting meat from local, As a tradition we’re targeting 700 people because we want everyone to enjoy, learning from the past will have more bars and there will be bigger serving points."

Kaelo said though their event is not focused in entertainment industry, but he realized meat lovers enjoys music as will see couple of artists and DJs from Botswana and South Africa entertaining patrons with music while enjoying meat, as also a testament to emphasis more into creative entertainment industry.

LIQUOR STOP PARTNERS WITH Born and Raised

Well known music festival “Born And Raised” is coming up this year again for 7th Edition in in new matrimony with Liquor Stop which will see this edition having a tagline by BORN & RAISED POWDER BY LIQUOR STOP.

Mrs Thapelo Mmono from Liquor Stop elaborated that this partnership agreement is for diversity and inclusion, “entertainment industry face challenges that might find host’s in hardships of putting an event together” as she said.

Goaba Mojakgomo said ticket sales will resume as from next week till a week before the day of event and there will be no tickets sold at the gate, as it’s our major security procedure. Mojakgomo went on to say preparation for the music show are already full swing after announcing some artists who will be featured in the event. These include ATI, MURUMBA PITCH, PROFESSOR, EZRA NEETHING, HAN-C, and DJ LATIMMY.

Goaba went on to saying further announcements will be made pertaining to the line-up as from next week.

FUEL PRICES UP FROM MIDNIGHT

Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority informs the public that the retail pump prices for petrol grades, diesel and illuminating paraffin will be adjusted as follows:

a) retail pump price of unleaded petrol 93 will be increased by 133 thebe per litre;

b) retail pump price of unleaded petrol 95 will be increased by 140 thebe per litre;

c) retail pump price of diesel will be increased by 259 thebe per litre; and

d) retail pump price of paraffin will be increased by 246 thebe per litre;

The above changes take effect from 00:01hrs on Wednesday, 13th September 2023.

The above adjustments are based on the analysis of the movement of petroleum products prices for the month of August 2023. Both crude oil prices and refined products prices increased in August. The increase was mainly driven by supply side factors such as the voluntary output cuts by Saudi Arabia that are to be extended to end of 2023.
