"To read is to fly: it is to soar to a point of vantage which gives a view over wide terrains of history, human variety, ideas, shared experiences and the fruits of many inquiries." - A. C. Grayling
"Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything." - Tomie dePaola
"Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers." - Harry S. Truman
On Saturday, two of my friends gifted me the books in the pictures below for my belated birthday. For me, books were the perfect gift because anybody who aspires to assume any position of leadership in future must be a voracious reader! This is very important as it ensures that one does not have a limited view of the world around him and gives him access and exposure to other people's thoughts, perception of events and processes, provides mentorship, creates "conversations" with the finest men of past and cause one to be a better, rounded thinker!
I am excited and can't wait to start reading these books because Thomas Sankara is one of the revolutionionaries who inspires me a lot and the topic of land is a hot one right now here at home and across the border with our neighbor, South Africa. I am hoping that after reading these books, I will come out with a better insight of what it means to be a revolutionary leader and have a better understanding of the connection between land and freedom and independence in their truest sense!
