We're greatful to all those that voted and got us into the top 90. Total energies is about ready to announce the top 15. We hope we did enough to be innovative and make a valuable contribution towards the achievement of some of the United Nation's sustainable goals through our project.

Google has shared details of its web3 and blockchain strategies. "As a company, we are looking at how we might contribute to the ecosystem."

We're creating a Non fungible token (NFT) market place where creators can sell their digital assets such as images, 3D visuals, videos and so much more.

Creators 👩‍🎨👨‍🎤📸🎬 Will benefit from a reduced number of intermediaries between them and their paycheck by selling directly to their fans possibly even benefitting from the resale of their works by the new owners. We'll be able to trace their copyrights and distribute royalties equitably through Blockchain and smart contracts.

Users 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦will enjoy a wealth of home-brewed as well as international content and consume it legally. Bando will enable users to build communities around some of their most loved art pieces, audio and video content enabling them to co-create with some of their faves or simply just share their views.

Have a look at what is happening on the forefront of music streaming.

We are, developing a similar solution specifically for the Botswana use case and other like markets. This will improve copy rights tracking and intellectual property protection. It will increase revenue streams for artists, reduce intermediaries between creators and their fans. Bando will also ensure equitable distribution of streaming revenues and royalties.

Distribution is akin to veins through which life blood must flow. Since it first burst onto the scene covid 19 has stopped the "normal" flow of things even threatening to halt life as we know it entirely. This has brought about rapid digitization which I might add is not entirely a sinister thing. Here are 9 ways Blockchain could blow life into the creative industry.

Improved digital rights management: You have probably experienced how digital copyrights restrict our discovery of fresh music.Think back to that Instagram reel that plays a few seconds of a song before it cuts or simply says the song is not available in your region. The music industry lacks a system for storing these rights accurately and securely. They don’t have a proven way to alter rights on an album-by-album and song-by-song basis. Blockchain is secure and unalterable. It might be a suitable framework for copyrights management platforms

Fighting Piracy: State Of The Art platforms could grant users rewards for sharing music between peers in a way that will still create revenue for the industry. Blockchain can facilitate both payment and identity-related features of these platforms.

Micro Payments collaborators and smaller artists: One major problem regarding proceeds from digital streams is that the colossal players gobble up all the major contracts, stream time and well...the money! Some digital streaming platforms can now establish direct payment gateways and make sure that smaller artists get their fair share.

Preferable royalty systems: Industry-wide royalty tracking and payment powered by the blockchain will add transparency and value for all parties.It may also decrease royalty payment fees. Imagine paying rights holders as soon as their work downloads, instead of weeks, months, or years later. Automated payments with smart contracts could make this a reality

More accessibility and affordability: While most have transitioned to paying streaming services, illegal downloaders still exist. There are plenty of reasons for this, including convenience, cost, and the limitations of legal catalogs. Plenty of people can’t justify paying for content. The blockchain ledger automates processes to lessen the intermediaries between creators and consumers. In a perfect world, savings would trickle all the way down to the consumer.

We could go the whole 9 yards but you get the gist of it. Although blockchain is most noteworthy in its use for cryptocurrencies it can also bring about more vibrancy and resilience to the creative industry. I consider this to be a vital development because it could help provide us with decent work and economic growth in Botswana, in line with United Nations SDG 8. To make strides towards achieving this goal an incredibly talented team and I have submitted a project proposal for Total Startupper. It is an opportunity that will see the winner ( us, hopefully) win P100 000 towards building a solution for some of our societies most fundamental problems.
