WE ARE FULLY BEHIND THE INVESTOR - SUPPORTERS CHAIR

Matjimenyenga Supporters Chairman, Obusitswe Pitlagano has rubbished ongoing allegations that they want to take over the control of the team from investor company, Petro Hyper.

According to reports coming from the Northern City, some supporters have been lobbying in the WhatsApp Groups to take control of the team.

"They are saying that since Petro Hyper has reduced its monthly expenses, it's best when the team is in the hands of the Society. What is more painful is that the lobbying is led by some of ex committee members. The team is doing well and they want limelight," said our source.

When contacted for comment on Friday afternoon, Pitlagano said, "we have heard those allegations but they are far from the truth. We are happy with the progress of the team under Petro Hyper. What we are doing as the Society is coming up with fund-raising initiatives so that we can help in preparing the team for games. We want to urge our supporters to focus on rallying behind the team like they have been doing."

MPOFU SACRIFICED TO ACCOMMODATE NIKOLA

Sua Flamingoes announced last night that they have sacked Zimbabwean gaffer, Mandla Mpofu after eight League matches. The decision to fire Mpofu came as a shock as his side is sitting comfortably sixth spot, five points less than log leaders TAFIC.

On Wednesday, Mpofu guided his side to a 1-0 win over log leaders, TAFIC little did he know that it was his last match in the club's dugout.

While the decision came as a shock to Sua Flamingoes supporters, it is understood that he has been sacrificed to accommodate the Serbian-born, Nikola Kavazovic who was fired by Ugandan giants, Vipers in October.

It is no secret that Sua Flamingoes hierarchy have a close relationship with the Serbian who dumped them in June 2023 to go to East Africa. The negotiations between Nikola's agent and the Township based outfit has been going on for weeks. It was a matter of time before Mpofu was shown the exit door irrespective of the results.

TAFIC head coach, Elias Chinyemba is confident that his side will bounce back when they host Township Rollers in the FNB Premiership match to be played at Francistown Council Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Matjimenyenga who are top of the log suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sua Flamingoes in a midweek fixture in Sowa Town yesterday.

" Yesterday my boys didn't put up the usual fight , we had little energy . But we will regroup and prepare well for the next game. It's a big game against Rollers and the boys need no motivation," said Chinyemba.
