The body of a young woman has been found in lower Mothithang in a likely homicide case.
The body had been hidden under a pile of plywood and cartons behind a big electric box by the suspect. The suspect who is a male and stays in the nearby building has been caught.
The woman is unidentified right now but police are still investigating.

𝗜𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀𝗵𝗼 𝗢𝗺 𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀𝗵𝗼

25-year-old Phuntsho Om, popularly known as Choyang Phuntsho, is the latest entrant into the Bhutanese Film Industry (BFI). She is from Darla, Chukha and the youngest amongst ten siblings. Choeyang completed her high school and went to Australia to pursue her studies but returned back after she had to address some more pressing matters back home.
She entered the Bhutan Film Industry in 2022 and since then completed four projects so far and has few projects signed for future. She shares her passion for her love and building a career in acting and her future dreams in a candid conversation with BT’s reporter Pema Tobgay:

𝘘. 𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵?
A: No, it wasn’t my passion when I started acting, but I started liking it overtime. And now I am thinking of making it a solid career.

𝘘. 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯?
A: As stated, acting was never my passion, and I never took myself as a competitor when I decided to do my first project. I do not wish to compete with anyone either. I definitely got good feedbacks from the viewers on my first project and that encouraged me that I can do better.
Moreover, it was easy for me to get into the movie line as my husband himself is a film director and directed several feature films. That somehow made me venture into the field. In addition, while working closely with him, I started loving the nuances of acting the glam and passion attached with it.

𝘘. 𝘉𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨?
A: I don’t know about others but, I personally feel that breaking the stereotypical thinking of the viewers and movie makers of needing the actor in perfect shape, meaning everyone prefers the actor slim and beautiful.
That is mandatory which I understand, but for a new mother like me, it is kind of difficult as I have to breast feed my child for which I have to keep myself healthy. Nevertheless, I am working hard towards it.
The other challenge I face is, I have a son who is not even two years old and it is difficult to go on a shoot taking him along. I have to compromise his sleep and meals for that matter. Things would have been much easier if I have someone to look after him.

𝘘. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳?
A: I have done two projects so far, two in OTT platforms (Lok Wong Na & Girl in the Rain) and two feature films (Aow Gi Chim Na Aow and Gyebi Dungyel).

𝘘. 𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨?
Ans: Being new to industry, I do not earn much, nor can I expect much. For the first two projects, I decided not to take a payment as my husband was directing and all I needed was a platform.
I gave up on rates to gain experience as I was working with experienced actors who are already well established. More than any amount of money, I gained so much experience which I am happy about. That said, I have high hopes in the coming years though.

𝘘. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘩𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨?
Ans: Other than the glitch created by the coronavirus pandemic, I genuinely feel that the industry as a whole in Bhutan is growing. Scripts are meaningful and there are so much professional tools, high quality cameras and technologies to aid us today.
Everyone in the movie industry is giving their best and it is a proud moment for Bhutanese people to see our movies being recognized at international level. This further encourages young actors like us.

𝘘. 𝘉𝘩𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘦. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥?
A: Irrespective of profession, we are bound to criticism. There are people who like us while there are many who judges us negatively. We are judged for the character that we portray on the screen but what people should know is that we are made to act based on the script.
However, how we handle situations eventually matters and for me. Other’s comment wouldn’t really matter to me and that won’t stop me from doing what I love. We have a family outside the set for which we would earn a good name.

𝘘. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧?
Ans: Once you are recognized, you get opportunities to earn such as paid promotions, product advertising and helps to run businesses. In my case I do a little singing, so it becomes much easier to get a chance to sing as a playback singer. Do what makes you happy.
