The Bahamas Weather Alert only Provides Weather Alerts for the Yearly Atlantic Hurricane Season!

: A Hurricane Warning is now in effect for the islands of the Southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. This includes the islands of Mayaguana, Crooked Island, Acklins, Long Cay, Ragged Island, Inagua and the entire Turks and Caicos Islands.

A Hurricane Warning means that Hurricane conditions could be experienced on these islands within 36 hours.

Residents of those islands are advised to take the necessary precautions to avoid loss of property and life.

- Public schools on the islands of Abaco, Bimini, Grand Bahama, Andros, The Berry Islands, New Providence and Eleuthera will be closed until Friday due to heavy flooding caused by Hurricane Milton.

Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis made the announcement moments ago at a DRM Authority press conference.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Northern Islands.

: Major hurricane Milton is centered 545 miles southwest of Tampa. It's a strong Category 4 packing 145 mph winds as of 8 a.m. EDT and is tracking east-northeast at 12 mph. As expected as it just completed its eye replacement cycle, Milton could restrengthen to Cat 5 again. We will continue monitoring it.

: Milton NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft data has measured a central pressure of 899 mb. Hurricane Milton is now one of the strongest hurricanes on record for the Atlantic hurricane basin. It’s an indication that Milton is still strengthening right now!

NHC: "The environment over the Gulf of Mexico is quite favorable for strengthening with light shear and very warm sea-surface temperatures, so subsequent steady strengthening is expected. The two biggest uncertainties in the intensity forecast are how long the system will remain offshore of Florida and how long it will take to consolidate."

📍#TROPICAL UPDATE: Hurricane #Beryl's swift strengthening seems to be slowing down currently, as indicated by satellite, radar, and recon data. There are signs of an eyewall replacement cycle (EWRC) beginning, with a rapidly shrinking and more unstable eye, along with concentric banding visible on Barbados radar and recon rain data.
