3 DAY BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST
Issued @ 6:00 AM Monday 15th July 2024 (for Today & Tonight)
GENERAL SITUATION: Weak troughing coupled with moisture associated with the northern portion of a tropical wave will be responsible for producing some shower and isolated convective activity across portions of the country today as it continues to move westward and away from our area through Tuesday. Meanwhile, a high pressure surface ridge will continue to generate moderate to fresh breezes.
SPECIAL WARNINGS: Heat indices could approach the triple digits today and UV indices will be in the moderate to high range during peak sunshine hours. Hence, the public is advised to remain hydrated, wear loose fitted garments and sunscreen when outdoors, and to take frequent breaks from the sun. Mariners should also remain vigilant due to the possibility of waterspout and funnel cloud activity. Beachgoers should exercise caution due to a slight risk of rip currents.
AREA: Northwest, Central & Southeast Bahamas
WEATHER: Expect a mix of sun and clouds today along with hot and humid conditions and a few isolated showers and the chance of a few isolated thunderstorms becoming mainly fair and warm at night with a stray shower or two possible.
ADVISORY: Gusty winds and higher seas can be expected in or near moderate to heavy showers or thunderstorms. A small craft caution remains in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas and all Atlantic exposures, including the Northwest Bahamas.
WINDS: East to Southeast at 10-15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas and Easterly at 15 knots with higher gusts at times in the Central & Southeast Bahamas.
SEAS: 2-4 feet nearshore but up to 6 feet in offshore waters in light easterly swells.
