TEATRO LASALYANO KICKS OFF SEASON 10 WITH PRESS CONFERENCE AND SNEAK PEEKS

Teatro Lasalyano (TL) held its Season 10 Press Conference at the MRR Auditorium on November 19, 2025. The program, hosted by Company Manager Chloe Salarda and Documentation Head Juliene Arciaga, provided a detailed look into the productions lined up for Terms 2 and 3. The event began with the theater organization’s Artistic Director, Gabo Tolentino’s opening remarks, setting the stage for the season’s announcements.

Theatrical previews featured a two-scene excerpt from Coro De Los Diablos, a Filipino adaptation of “Lord of the Flies” that explores themes of survival. A one-scene performance from Irene followed, an original TL play based on the spiritual crisis of Saint John Baptist de La Salle known as “The Temptation at Parmenie.” Between these main previews, TL members delivered special musical numbers, singing to entertain the audience further.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of two scenes—Tagpo 8 and Tagpo 9—from Sugatán, an adaptation of Severino Reyes and Fulgencio Tolentino’s Walang Sugat. This work was initially commissioned and produced as an Undergraduate Thesis under UP Dulaang Laboratoryo. The performance was scheduled to be the first production staged in Season 10.

The program successfully concluded with Sir Gabo delivering closing remarks that confirmed the final titles and schedule of the full plays to be staged in the coming terms, building anticipation for Season 10.

DLSU LUDO CONCLUDES ‘LUDOPOCALYPSE’ TOURNAMENT, CROWNING GAMING CHAMPIONS

DLSU Ludo concluded its two-day “LUDOPOCALYPSE” gaming tournament on November 19, transforming campus venues into an avenue for console, VR, and strategy games.

The overall event spanned two Wednesdays, November 12 and November 19, and utilized both the MRR Information Commons and the Enrique K. Razon (EKR) Building Library.

The champions were awarded cash prizes, including ₱1,000 for the Codenames winning team and ₱700 for the Tekken 7 and Moonrider champions, with ₱300 awarded to the second-place finishers.

Day one, held on Nov. 12, featured the intense Tekken 7 tournament, where competitors adhered to strict rules including blind character picks and a double-elimination format.

Francis Clarence Santos secured the Tekken 7 Champion title after a final series against Franco Miguel A. Bool, characterized by competitive bouts and swift defeat rounds.

The strategic Codenames segment on Day 1 was claimed by the team of Stephanie Claire Tan and Adrian Teodorico M. Artuz, who successfully provided one-word clues to guide their partners across the playing grid.

Despite the initial plan, the Blaston VR competition was ultimately canceled across both days, leaving Moonrider as the sole VR event on the schedule.

The Moonrider competition concluded on Day 2 with Edmund Izandre L. Soliman taking the first-place title and Coco Miguel M. Manlangit earning second place.

Overall, the atmosphere was notably charged, with a large audience gathering for the Tekken brackets and passersby commenting that the enthusiasm made this Ludo’s most active event of the year.

‘THE SOUL VS THE ROBOT’ FORUM EXPLORES FAITH IN THE AGE OF AI

Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students gathered collectively in the Enrique K. Razon Jr. (EKR) Collaborative Lecture Hall on November 19 to explore the intersection of religion and technology in a forum.

Titled “The Soul vs The Robot,” this program serves as the culminating event for the subject, Introduction to World Religions and Belief Systems (IWRBS), reflecting on the place of faith in the age of AI.

The program began with remarks from Sir Arnold Aviles, the subject teacher for HUMSS12-B and HUMSS12-A, who highlighted that this was an opportunity to bridge the gap and explore different faiths. A theme explanation by Ashley Nido from HUMSS12-B followed this.

Sandwiched between an icebreaker and synthesis, Ms. Loren Demol led the discussion on Christianity and robots, emphasizing that a balance must be struck when using technology within one’s religion, as the soul also requires actual presence, communion, and connection.

In a similar set-up, Ms. Naoemi Weill expanded on the crossover of Confucianist beliefs and technology by promoting the value of xiao or filial piety among the people around, explaining that AI must be used responsibly and never for the harm of others.

As the speaker for this final segment, Sir Joseph Dinglasan centered his discussion on the ideas of choice and perspective in life, weaving in Buddhist principles by mentioning that technology can coexist with humans based on how humans view and act in their own lives.

The forum peacefully concluded with Sir Daniel Gerard Solidio sharing his insights on the beauty of different faiths and how IWRBS and learning about these thoughtfully enriches one’s wisdom and knowledge.

BRIDGING FUTURES THROUGH STORIES: LIVE AT THE LIBRARIES MAKES A RETURN

The “Live at the Libraries” culminating event took place on November 19 at the Enrique K. Razon (EKR) Learning Commons, in collaboration with the DLSU Libraries, to celebrate National Book Month. With the theme “Tulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa,” the event emphasized how books open paths to brighter futures.

Settling into the primary purpose of the event, hosts Deen Roasa and Zoe Araos surely brought energy to the room as they introduced what performances unfolded next. The event showcased powerful voices and performances through open mic and cosplay competitions, where Filipino stories were vividly brought to life.

Beyond the competitions, the venue bustled with engaging booths from Likhain and Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Society, along with electrifying performances from various student bands and performers. All these efforts commended the artistry and dedication of the Arts and Design Track (ADT) students who made the event possible.

As the program came to an end, students were reminded of the profound meaning of reading, as Ms. Candy Schijf, the DLSU library coordinator, shared, “reading is not just a form of escapism, but a story of building bridges toward a brighter future,” leaving the students with a little more inspiration and hope for what lies ahead.

DLSU LAGUNA HOLDS ‘DUGTONG BUHAY’ ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE FOR LOCAL HOSPITALS

The Lasallian Mission Office (LMO) partnered with the DLSU Laguna Senior Plus Red Cross Youth to conduct the “Dugtong Buhay” annual blood donation drive at the MRR Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday, November 19. The facility opened its doors for the initiative at 8:00 a.m. and continued operations until 3:00 p.m.
Student volunteers from the Red Cross Youth took charge of the on-ground logistics to assist the visiting medical personnel from Red Cross Laguna throughout the seven-hour shift. These volunteers assisted with the whole initiative and guided the participants through the necessary preliminary screening procedures. This organizational support allowed the medical staff to focus their resources entirely on the blood extraction process and donor recovery monitoring.

The university holds this program biannually, with schedules typically set in June and November, to provide a consistent avenue for medical volunteerism. Organizers aim to secure a steady volume of blood units through these drives to support local hospitals and patients requiring transfusions.

BREWING CONNECTIONS: STUDENTS HAVE CHANCE CONVERSATIONS WITH LASALLIAN BROTHERS AT BREW WITH BRO

On the sunny afternoon of November 17, Brew with Bro took place at the MRR Multipurpose Hall, in partnership with Lasallian Mission Office (LMO).

Rather than a fully planned out program, it was focused on round-table discussions with the De La Salle Brothers, Aspirants, and Contacts leading the way. Aspirants refer to those aspiring to be Lasallian Brothers, while Contacts are invited to join events in hopes of becoming aspirants. They fostered dialogue on a wide array of topics such as plans for the future, choices that could dictate your future and more, providing guidance and mentorship along the way.

The overall experience was calm and heart-warming, feeling just like another conversation with a friend. May more events such as this come into fruition and open themselves to the student body, as in the tiring student life, a warm welcome is always much appreciated.

WIELDING THE PEN: YOUNG WRITERS GATHER FOR WEAVING STORIES AND SPILLING INK

On November 12, 2025, Senior high students were packed in the EKR Learning Commons to take part in a creative writing workshop, Weaving Stories and Spilling Ink: A Writer’s Journey for National Book Week, to learn how to wield their pens to their full potential.

Both long-time writers and those who are still in the first chapters of their writing journey gathered to listen to the wisdom of guest speaker, Professor Carla M. Pacisi. Professor Pacisi is a faculty member of the Literature Department of De La Salle University and an award-winning author who has written various children’s books and young adult books.

After meaningful opening remarks and a soulful opening prayer, Professor Pacisi began her talk with personal anecdotes from her time as a student during martial law. She highlighted that change begins with young people, who now have many means of writing, and therefore many means to have their voices heard. She reiterated that as the world evolves, with it the art of writing is threatened. This makes the talents of young writers—and their improvement—more relevant now than ever.

After a short break, an open forum was held to address the participants’ concerns with picking up a pen and writing their hearts out. Students didn’t hesitate to share what troubles them the most in the writing process. Professor Pacisi’s advice encouraged them to seek out feedback, sit down, and just bring their pen to the paper, and lock out distractions.

To conclude the workshop, students were invited to form groups of five and play a writing game called Renga, where one member would start a haiku with its traditional 5-7-5 syllabic pattern, then it would be continued by another member with a 7-7 syllabic pattern until the group had written two separate five-line haikus. Even under pressure, students were able to come up with creative poems.
