We ended our four-day exhibition at the Brunei Petroleum Technology Exhibition & Conference (PTEC) 2025 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas. It has been nothing short of amazing!

A huge thank you to the Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam .bn , Society of Petroleum Engineers Brunei Section, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) for organizing such an insightful event.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect and engage with key industry players, exchange ideas, and explore innovations in the hydrocarbon industry. It’s been an amazing experience sharing what we do, learning from others, and building new connections. Until next time!

Last year on April, two technical specialists from Network Integrity Assurance Technologies (NIAT) Sdn. Bhd. successfully installed Automatic Identification System (AIS) technology for a key client in Kuala Belait.

The setup included the installation of several key components such as antennas, GPS receivers, and an AIS antenna, all tailored for a smooth integration with the client’s current system for vessel monitoring and reporting.

NIAT Sdn Bhd successfully completed a sea trial of the Inmarsat C system with dual antennas for an important client in May 2024 as part of their comprehensive communication upgrade project. During the sea trial, the Inmarsat C system was rigorously tested by the technical team to validate its performance in real-world operations. The system demonstrated full functionality, maintaining strong communication connections with shore-based stations, enabling seamless data exchange, and enhancing overall situational awareness on board throughout the entire sea trial.

BDGC 2024 Mentorship Program: Preparing for AGC 2025

The mentoring program for the two winning teams of the Brunei Darussalam Geospatial Challenge (BDGC) 2024 officially commenced today in preparation for the ASEAN Geospatial Challenge (AGC) 2025.

This mentorship will be delivered over multiple sessions, scheduled from early December through end of January.

The program is designed to support and assist participants in enhancing their projects in anticipation of AGC 2025.

Winners of Brunei Darussalam Geospatial Challenge (BDGC) 2024 Awarded

The Caffeinated Cats from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) emerged as champions in the first-ever Brunei Darussalam Geospatial Challenge (BDGC) 2024, was celebrated yesterday in an awarding ceremony held at Dewan Mawaddah, Setia Point Building.

Their winning project, “Fire Fighting: Emergency Response”, presents an app designed to assist the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) in monitoring and managing fire hydrant statuses across Brunei.

Second place went to GeoTrailblazers from UTB with their project on “Geo-spatial Based Disaster Risk Reduction for Floods and Landslides”, while VisioSpectra from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) secured third place with “Maximizing Agricultural Efficiency through Remote Sensing Applications”.

The BDGC 2024, organized by NIAT Sdn. Bhd. in partnership with the Survey Department of the Ministry of Development, coincided with the annual World Geographic Information System (GIS) Day celebration on November 20th.

The competition aimed to promote awareness and understanding of geospatial technology while encouraging its application in advancing Brunei Darussalam’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Officers and staff from Network Integrity Assurance Technologies (NIAT) Sdn. Bhd. attended a briefing on Adat Istiadat to deepen their understanding of Terasul and State Protocol. The briefing was held at the Jabatan Adat Istiadat Negara (JAIN) building in the capital.

The session aimed to familiarize employees with protocol arrangements and the appropriate forms of address when greeting royalty and titled individuals in accordance with Bruneian customs.

Teams participating in the Brunei Darussalam Geospatial Challenge (BDGC) 2024 showcased their projects before an esteemed panel of judges, over a two-day session last week at the Brunei Innovation Lab, Kampong Anggerek Desa.

The BDGC 2024 is organized by NIAT Sdn. Bhd. in partnership with the Brunei Survey Department under the Ministry of Development.

The winners will be announced at the Prize Presentation Ceremony held in conjunction with the Geographic Information System (GIS) Day on 20th November 2024. Stay tuned!

Special Update! 🚀

We’ve just received the latest update from and on the Postcards to Space project – the Blue Origin NS-27 launch, originally scheduled for 7th October 2024 and then postponed from 13th October 2024, has now been rescheduled for this Wednesday, 23rd October 2024 at 11PM Brunei time! Both previous launches were scrubbed due to troubleshooting vehicle and GPS issues, but we are hopeful that this launch will proceed as planned.

The link to watch the live broadcast will be updated on our story as soon as we have it, so stay tuned!

The postcards are ready to launch again, and we’re hopeful everything will go smoothly this time. As a reminder, these postcards will travel to space, crossing the Karman line about 100 kilometers above Earth. Once the capsule returns, we’ll be sending them back to you!

This initiative began in November 2022, when we invited schools, higher educational institutions (), NGOs, and the public to join us by sending in their postcards. 🎉✉️

We were blown away by the incredible response, receiving over 7,200 postcards, far exceeding our original target of 4,000! 🤩

A huge thank you to everyone for your amazing support! We truly appreciate it, and we hope you’ll tune in to watch the launch. 🎥✨
