Rebel Attack Kills 3 in Western Uganda

At least three people, including two children, were killed Monday night in an arson attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a rebel group, in Uganda's western district of Kamwenge.

"Last night, the same group that committed atrocities last week, killing 10 people, attacked another village where they were scavenging for food, and they killed a 75-year-old woman and her two grandchildren," Felix Kulayigye, the military spokesperson, told local media Tuesday, adding that the group set ablaze the house of the victims.

UN Rallies with Tanzania in Overcoming Flooding, Landslides Aftermath

The United Nations (UN) is working closely with the government of Tanzania in responding to the aftermath of the Dec. 3 severe landslides and flooding that left at least 89 dead and over 5,600 homeless in the Hanang district in the Manyara region, according to a statement released by the UN on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023.

ECOWAS Formally Suspends Niger's Membership

Uganda Grants Visa-Free Entry to DR Congo Nationals

🔴Tanzania, Rwanda and Somali Picked for Clean Energy Pilots

Tanzania, Rwanda and Somalia are among four countries selected as pilots of a new World Bank clean energy programme that is set to benefit at least 100 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.

Sao Tome and Principe will also take part in the rollout of the Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation (Ascent) programme, which will be expanded to 20 countries in the region over the next seven years.

EAC: Uganda Forces Exit Completes EACRF Withdrawal from East DRC

The Uganda contingent deployed as part of the regional force in Democratic Republic of Congo completed the withdraw of its troops from North Kivu, on December 14, ahead of nearly one month to the January 7 deadline that the regional chiefs of defence forces set.

AfDB Approves $696.41 Million for the Burundi and Tanzania Railway Project

The African Development Bank Group on Tuesday, Dec 12 approved $696.41 million for Burundi and Tanzania to start Phase II of the Joint Tanzania-Burundi-DR Congo Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Project.

Over 50 civilians were killed in attacks in Ethiopia last month, a human rights body said Wednesday, Dec 6 ,2023 after talks in Tanzania to put an end to five years of insurrection.

Rwanda calls for more ambitious climate action at COP28

The Rwandan government has said it will call for more ambitious climate action and a doubling of funding for adaptation at this year’s UN climate change conference, known as COP28, which opened in Dubai on Thursday and will run until December 12.

Rwanda to Plant 2 M Trees Around Health Facilities

The Rwandan Ministry of Health announced Sunday, Nov. 26 a tree planting campaign aiming to plant 2 million trees in and around health facilities in the country.

COMESA - EU Ink Finance Agreements Worth Almost €50 Million
