At least three people, including two children, were killed Monday night in an arson attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a rebel group, in Uganda's western district of Kamwenge.

The Uganda contingent deployed as part of the regional force in Democratic Republic of Congo completed the withdraw of its troops from North Kivu, on December 14, ahead of nearly one month to the January 7 deadline that the regional chiefs of defence forces set.

The Rwandan government has said it will call for more ambitious climate action and a doubling of funding for adaptation at this year’s UN climate change conference, known as COP28, which opened in Dubai on Thursday and will run until December 12.
