At the press conference held on November 17 at 11:30 a.m. in the Laboratory of 3D Digitization and Microstructural Analysis of the Center for Excellence in Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies at IICT-BAS, the achieved results of the Center for Excellence in Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies were presented to journalists from BTA, BNR, in "Labor ", in. "24 chasa", in. "Az-buki" and Economic.bg. Art.-cor. Margenov, head of the project, Prof. Karaivanova, deputy head and Associate Professor Georgiev, head of the 3D laboratory answered the journalists' questions. A special guest of the event was the European Commissioner for Innovation, Scientific Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova. Among the guests were Stefka Pileva-Malinovska, Chief Director of the Main Directorate "Verification", IAPO and Georgi Ivanov, Main Directorate "Verification", IAPO, Rumyana Grozeva - Head of ECIH Zagore and Exp. Dir. of the Agency for Regional Economic Development, representatives of the Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts "Prof. Asen Diamandiev", Plovdiv: Prof. Tsvetanka Kolovska, Deputy Rector for Educational Activities, Associate Professor Zhan Pehlivanov, Deputy Rector for Scientific and Artistic Activities and Associate Professor Vesela Statkova, Head of the Department of Applied Arts.
The open day in the laboratory aroused great interest among pupils, students and teachers from the Sofia Vocational High School of Electronics "John Atanasov", the Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts "Prof. Asen Diamandiev" - Plovdiv, the Technological School "Electronic Systems" at the Technical University - Sofia, the University of Thrace - Stara Zagora, the National High School of Nature and Mathematics - Sofia, PPMG "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov" - Burgas and representatives of the academic community and business.
More than 150 visitors visited the Institute during the Open day in the laboratory.
At the Open Day, demonstrations were made of state-of-the-art three-dimensional documentation methods: industrial micro-computed tomography with the ability to perform imaging at both the micron and sub-micron scales; virtual reality and virtual exhibitions to present and popularize cultural heritage. Of great interest was the virtual presentation of an interactive tour of the sea floor, part of the Center for Underwater Archeology's Black Sea Map project. In this regard was presented the joint work of IICT-BAS with the Center for Underwater Archeology and AQUAPROM, within the BCThubs project, financed under the Horizon Europe program.
