In the next instalment of Futurepast mix series we welcome the visionary Kuba'97. Embark on a transcendent voyage through downtempo realms where time slows and melodies whisper from another dimension. It begins with a gentle invitation as ethereal synth pads and distant chimes beckon the listener to step into the unknown. With each beat, the rhythm leads us deeper into the heart of the experience, where tribal echoes and pulsating bass lines interact with the energy of the cosmos.

As the journey unfolds, psychedelic vibes curl like vines in a lush jungle, evoking visions of ancient rituals and sacred ceremonies. Proud to release the 19th podcast of our series, another vibrant set by thomas hayes.

This is his second mix for Futurepast label recorded when after more than three years he went back on stage playing an experimental set in an ambient setting. The event was organised by a brand new collective called DO-Dream On and took place at 'De Tuin Van Heden' in Ghent on Sunday 17th of September.

The idea behind the set was to play something rather unusual, soothing and mind-bending at the same time.

On top we offer some limited CDs with the three tracks (in wav and mp3), packaged in a hand-stamped cardboard case to minimise plastic usage, with the artwork added inside.

After building overwhelming anticipation with our Alternative Earth series we are announcing a new release by 2001 Space Odyssey.

The EP titled „Goodbye Ziegra“ seamlessly fuses timeless elements of slow hip-hop breaks and techno rhythms with neo-soul chord progressions, while venturing into the realm of modern sound synthesis.

2001 Space Odyssey is an improvised electronics trio based in Berlin which aims to progressively blend sub genres of electronic music, such as: idm, hiphop, bass, breaks, techno & ambient with the organic sounds of acoustic music. Their approach to creating music stems from jazz, as their ideas and arrangements arise from an improvised performance, where they use synths, hardware machines, & acoustic instruments to empower each other’s musical visions by giving them a new context.

Each member of the trio hails from a different musical and cultural background; fusing post-Soviet electronica, western European jazz, and latin American rhythms. Their differences come together through a common passion of exploring the boundaries of music.The result of this combination is a project which is malleable to different genre critics as well as diverse musical settings. This harmonious fusion creates an intriguing auditory experience that is sure to captivate the hearts of music enthusiasts.

Futurepast Mix 18 by De Gaer (live set)

Live from Lisbon, performed at Arroz Estúdios on May 26th, De Gaer brings an expressively unique set, transporting us through distorted soundscapes with analog beats to a world of darkness.

De Gaer was established in its current form in 2014, after being an active part of the club scene playing DJ gigs at legendary venues like Fabric and Public Life in London, he was also holding a residency at Fuse Brussels in his native Belgium. He developed his unmistakable sound from a wide range of genres, from electronic to post-punk. He settled in Lisbon, where we can find him today, firmly focusing on creating his own high-level productions, using his past experiences as the catalyst for his transformation as De Gaer.

Reaching the next level of experimentation, he is now challenging us to bravely join him on his path through raw, industrial moods, leading to inspirational emotions which we can all connect with.

Futurepast Mix 17 by Mogus

Dive into the world of Mogus, a dynamic DJ and curator from Antwerp, Belgium. His journey through music has been a tapestry of rich experiences, shaping him into an intuitive and inventive artist. Mogus' sound is a mesmerising fusion of convention and experimentation, painting vivid soundscapes across various genres, all with a touch of moody edge.

Music 'self-portrait' by Frak (Börft Records, Sweden).
Familiar from Futurepast 6th vinyl EP, released in 2021, Johan Sturesson and Jan Svensson this time decided to reveal their reassuringly lyrical identities with a genuine chord. Showing pictured personalities along the rhythm as well as their unspoken inner secrets.
Each one of them as the protagonist of the characterised atmosphere in their own meandering experience. First 30 minutes are full of realistic depictions, exploring the reflection of the creator Johan, seamlessly linked to the last 30 recorded by Jan, both combinedly created to be read as art. Two pieces of authentic hearts transmitted in our confidence.

Alejandro Romero who released on the label last year offers a trip-hop mix under his Alias Ópalo.

Ópalo is an Ecuadorian project which tends to produce in an experimental way, using drum machines, keyboards and synthesizers. The imagination comes from the history of a wolf who denies to be part of the system he is imposed on.

Ópalo’s first impression with the alias was to be more conceptual and in the process he realized a history was being told. It gives place to music he has loved since college, like Massive Attack, Tosca or Kruder & Dorfmeister.

The idea behind the mix is to put together the most representative tunes of the trip-hop genre. Especially the kind of music released in the 90’s. The selection tends to tell a story of danger and romance. Also its rhythm is influenced by Jamaican sounds, dub, reggae and elements from the hip hop scene like scratching vinyl sounds. The interesting part of the sound is that it’s very futuristic even though it’s kind of old school.

‘’My productions can’t emulate the sound of the 90’s ,but I think they’re very influenced by them.’’ says the artist.

Out of the many artists, both new and established, that Futurepast has welcomed to its family, Spanish producer and DJ Eduardo De La Calle is one that we can definitively call a legend. His vast discography includes many of dance music’s most appreciated labels, so we’re humbled to present a full EP from him.

His EP “Kardama'' emerged as the winter of 2022 bled into 2023, a period where he’d actually been producing more downtempo works, so "Kardama" is his most recent take on techno; a genre he is certainly well-versed in with over 25 years experience.

The final artist to announce is one any Futurepast fan will know well, T.A.M.22, Futurepast’s founder and natural resident. Over two decades Davy has brought Futurepast from Brussels, with iterations in the Belgian capital’s iconic Fuse club, to the label's current home of Berlin where he met many kindred spirits along the way.

As T.A.M.22, Davy’s vast musical knowledge as a DJ and producer is focused into seeking out techno with his signature groove and ultimate power for the club space. A sure treat for the Subessenz soundsystem at our party on Friday.

We are sharing the first part of his set recorded at our previous party.

Annechoic has been a part of our Berlin story for years now but her experience extends beyond this. As such a highly esteemed DJ, producer and overall underground gem, we're super happy to have her at our next party.
