Le Forum des Jeunes Co

mpositeurs a pour objectif de permettre aux jeunes compositeurs de développer leurs connaissances et de se familiariser avec les formes de l'orchestre symphonique et de la musique de chambre. Le Forum a été créé dans ce but, à l'origine en collaboration étroite avec l'Orchestre National de Belgique et son directeur musical, Maestro Mikko Franck, le Concours Reine Elisabeth ainsi que le Concertgebouw Brugge. Des sessions de lecture de jeunes compositeurs seront organisées tous les deux ans.

Young composers are often faced with the same problem when writing for a symphony orchestra: the orchestra itself, a strong, costly "instrument" that is not readily available. The commissions are generally awarded to experienced and well known composers. Without orchestral experience, the knowledge necessary to acquire the basic writing techniques for a large orchestra cannot be developed. It is a vicious circle. The Young Composers' Forum sets out to allow young composers to develop their knowledge as well as their familiarity with the symphony orchestra and the chamber music forms. The Forum was created for this purpose, at the beginning in close collaboration with the Belgian National Orchestra and its Musical Director, Maestro Mikko Franck, the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Concertgebouw Brugge. Reading sessions for young composers will be organised every two years.

"Close to my house there is a path between the fields that has always intrigued me. During the summer, one of the fields along this path always blossoms with a very specific palette of red, purple, yellow and blue colored weeds and wild flowers.
But these different plants and flowers never blend. They grow in big squares, almost like a Rothko painting. Above these fields, there runs an overhead power line, stretching over both sides of the horizon. And usually, during this period, a kestrel hovers over this field. I can never walk past this point without standing still for a while. Just like this walk, Characters is about the many contrasts surrounding us all the time." Daan Geysen

We are happy to announce that the chamber music piece “Échos éloquents” by Christoph Renhart, staged during [‘tactus] 2019 with Musiques Nouvelles , has now been published by the Viennese Universal Edition. Congratulations Christoph! https://www.universaledition.com/christoph-renhart-7826/works/echos-eloquents-29913

Échos éloquents is a composition in one movement for seven instruments. It was premiered in 2016 by the Schallfeld Ensemble in Graz, Austria.
