Final Round Voting begins July 1 and ends August 15 at midnight on the TCMA website at www.texascountrymusic.org. The winners will be announced at the 2024 Texas Country Music Awards which will take place on Sunday, November 10th in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards at the World’s Largest H***y Tonk, Billy Bob’s Texas. Many top
industry professionals and artists will be on hand to announce the winners and present the Awards to the recipients.

Chevrolet, and is presented by Texas Country Music Association. The local Fort Worth area media sponsor for 2023 is 95.9 KFWR The Ranch.

The Awards ceremony will be hosted once again by TCMA Spokesperson and Texas Country Artist, Brandon Rhyder, who will also perform at the event. Co-hosting the Awards ceremony is Erin Wilde, an on-air personality with KTFW 92.1 Hank FM.

There will be performances by not only Brandon Rhyder but also The Great Divide, Will

The Texas Country Music Awards is the only trade organization and primary advocate for
the Texas Country Music Industry and has been recognized as the only one of its kind by
the State of Texas. The Texas Country Music Association is by far the largest and most
influential and energizing organization for Texas Country Music.

“We work daily and diligently on behalf of everyone in the industry through the many established ongoing
programs we’ve developed and have more on the horizon. The Texas Country Music Awards is a blast – like a huge family reunion, and you do not want to miss it! This year is truly special because not only are we presenting the awards and getting to hear some
great performers, but we’re also fortunate to be able to celebrate Jason Boland’s mile marker of 25 years in the industry.” says Wilson.

TCMA Executive Vice President, Richard Wilson states, “The Texas Country Music Awards
gets bigger and better every year. Last year’s Awards at Billy Bob’s were off the chain, and every year we wonder how we’ll top it but somehow we do thanks to all the industry support and our TCMA Members, Ambassadors, Volunteers, and Sponsors. Everyone I’ve talked to is excited to get together again on November 10.”

In addition to the 2024 Texas Country Music Awards on November 10th, Stockyards Heritage Development hosts TCMA’s “Texas Country Music Weekend” in the Stockyards beginning Friday, November 8 with the Texas Country Music Showcase acoustic performances from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, followed by a free concert with 3-time Grammy-

Country Music Hall of Fame and The Oak Ridge Boys member William Lee Golden’s son, William ‘Rusty’ Golden, passed away July 1, 2024 at the age of 65 at his home in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

“This is the hardest thing ever for a father to have to face. I love my family more than anything. Rusty was a great musician, a talented songwriter, and a wonderful son. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers for the days ahead. I love you, son.” - William Lee Golden

Rusty was born January 3, 1959, in Brewton, Alabama, as the eldest son of William and Frogene Golden. His given name was William Lee Golden, Jr., named after his father, but his family began calling him "Rusty" shortly after his birth.

Music was a constant presence in the Golden household, with both of Rusty's parents coming from musical families where singing and playing instruments were encouraged. Unsurprisingly, Rusty began showing his musical talent at a young age. By the time he was in 6th grade, around age 12, he was already proficiently playing drums. At the age of 13, he started playing drums professionally for The Rambos, featuring the legendary songwriter, Dottie Rambo.

Rusty's songwriting career was influenced by his grandmother and great-grandfather's love of poetry. His paternal grandmother was a prolific poet, with her work often published in the town's newspaper. Growing up, Rusty understood the connection between words and music. As a youngster, he composed his first song by setting his grandmother's poetry to music.

His whole musical life took a turn when he attended an Elton John concert in 1972. After this show, Rusty turned the drumsticks over to his brother Chris and started learning how to play the piano. At 17, he started touring playing keys with Larry Gatlin. He eventually played on several studio recordings including Larry Gatlin’s “Love Is Just A Game,” Marty Stuart’s “Pilgrim” and countless others.

By age 20 he was recording at Quadraphonic Studios in Nashville for ABC Records. Shortly after, he helped form The Boys Band. Within two years, the group was recording their debut album for Elektra/Asylum Records at CARIBOU RANCH in Nederland, Colorado. The album yielded the single, “Runner” which was the first music video for MTV produced in Nashville in 1982, and “Please Don’t Stop Me Baby,” which landed in Billboard’s Hot 100. The group disbanded in 1984.

In 1984, Rusty received an RIAA Gold Record for his songwriting contributions on The Oak Ridge Boys’ ‘Bobbie Sue’ album as well as the legendary Barry White. This recognition encouraged Rusty to begin writing songs with Marc Speer.

In 1985, Rusty and Marc Speer founded the group Golden Speer, which included Rusty's brother Chris Golden on lead vocals. Although their album was never released under Golden Speer, the label changed directions in 1986, leading Rusty and Chris to record under the name, The Goldens, releasing two singles as a newly formed duo. They moved to Capitol/SBK Records and released the album Rush for Gold in 1990. This critically acclaimed album produced three charting singles and videos: “Take Me Back to The Country,” “Keep The Faith,” and “Long Gone.”

Rusty had a ‘change of heart’ after a quadruple bypass and devoted his writing back to his gospel roots. That change garnered him several #1 Southern Gospel songs, and two Song of the Year awards for “What Salvation’s Done for Me” by The Booth Brothers, and “I Want to Thank You” by Karen Peck & New River.
In March of 2020, Rusty and Chris, along with William Lee began working on a vision for a family band called William Lee Golden and The Goldens. They recorded and released 34 songs from 2020 to 2021 and were joined by brother Craig, nieces Elizabeth and Rebekah and nephew Elijah making the group a true three-generation family band. They traveled the country performing songs from their most recent three albums—Country Roads: Vintage Country Classics, Old Country Church Gospel and Southern Accents: Pop & Country Rock. The family performed together several times on the world-famous Grand Ole Opry. In 2023, Rusty stepped on the Opry stage solo to be recognized for his individual gifts as a musician when he was awarded Keyboard Player of The Year by the Josie Music Awards.

In addition to his lengthy list of accolades as a songwriter and musician, Rusty Golden will be remembered as a charismatic entertainer, who could hold an audience in the palm of his hand with his energetic live performances. Throughout his life, he always had a tremendous connection with audiences whether he was on the Opry stage or in recent years performing regular gigs in Bahrain, where he earned a reputation as a riveting performer whose talents transcended any borders. But most of all, Rusty will be remembered as one of those Nashville cats everyone wanted to play music with, co-write a song, or just hang out. Rusty could always be counted on to elevate any experience with his talent, wit, and charm.

Rusty Golden is preceded in death by his mother Frogene Normand, grandparents Luke & Rutha Mae Golden, and Elliot & Estelle Normand. He is survived by his father William Lee Golden (Simone), and brothers Craig Golden, Chris Golden (Marie), and Solomon Golden, along with many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, close friends, and fans.

Funeral/memorial details are pending and will be made available at williamleegoldenandthegoldens.com and their page: facebook.com/WLGandTheGoldens

The Award Winning Malpass Brothers will be appearing at the Lantex Theater in Llano, Texas, on Saturday, July 13 with a performance at 2:30PM. They will also be in concert at the Texas Theater in Seguin, Texas, on Sunday, July 14 with an afternoon show at 2:00PM and an evening show at 5:00PM. Tickets range in price from $20 for general admission to $30 and $35 for reserved VIP seating are available at www.heartoftexascountry.com.

Their new television show on RFD TV has already received rave reviews. The show is seen several times throughout the week on RFD and features the Malpass Brothers Band as well as a special guest each week filmed in the historic Ft. Worth Stockyards.

As young boys, Christopher and Taylor Malpass soaked up the music of their granddad’s phonograph records. Christopher earned his first talent show trophy at age 7, and Taylor was playing mandolin by the time he was 10. Today, they promote the work and music of classic country artists they treasure while creating new music and making their own mark in the lineage of a rich American cultural heritage.

With sincerity, honesty and an utter ease on stage that belies their years, their smooth vocal blend and skillful musicianship layer infectiously into the deep respect they pay to legends who have paved the way. Add the funny, off-the-cuff quips between the two 20-something siblings, and the engaging concert becomes a magnetic time-traveling journey to when a calmer rhythm reigned supreme.

The Malpass Brothers toured with the late Don Helms, former steel guitarist for Hank Williams, opened for music legend Merle Haggard on multiple tours and appeared on stages from the Shetland Islands to Ryman Auditorium to Merlefest. Gifted musicians and songwriters, the brothers have shared billing with artists including Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Doyle Lawson, Rhonda Vincent, Marty Stuart, Doc Watson and more. The title cut video from their “Memory That Bad” album hit CMT Pure Country’s Top Ten. Their most recent self-titled recording, produced by bluegrass legend Doyle Lawson, was released by Organic Records in 2015.

Haggard was so impressed with The Malpass Brothers that he helped produce a project on them and contributed some songs to the album as well.

The Malpass Brothers are frequent guests on the Grand Ole Opry. They are also featured on Larry’s Country Diner and Country’s Family Reunion.

This is the real deal, folks. There is no pretense. This is music steeped in the legacy of the Louvin Brothers, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Sr. & others. Count on classic, real country. Count on new Malpass tunes. Count on a couple of old-time traditional gospels. Count on their probably coming down into the house at intermission and asking what you’d like to hear. Count on giggles and ribbing between brothers, along with daddy on the bass, who’s bound to be thinking, “What the heck are they doing now?” Count on some big, high man hair, and maybe an Elvis twitch or two. Count on lines at the CD table … and count on logging on to see where they’ll be next.

“Chris and Taylor worked their first shows for us several years ago,” MC Tracy Pitcox said. “They have continually filled the house for us and we are looking forward to their return visit. They are masters at Traditional Country Music but their humor wins over audiences young and old as well.”

Heart of Texas Records and StarVista Music announce the world wide digital release of country western singer Jody Nix's new album, "It's About Time." The album is now available on all major streaming services throughout the world. You can download Jody Nix "It's About Time" anywhere digital music or streaming is available.

Nix describes "It's About Time" as a blend of real country music, traditional western swing, and a touch of 90s influence, reflecting the rich musical heritage of Texas. "I want everyone to know that this is real country music, as traditional as it gets, along with western swing and a little bit 90s,” explains Nix. “I feel great about it. I’m honored and blessed beyond measure and thankful we’re getting out there for everybody."

In addition to new tracks, the album features a selection of cover songs, each uniquely styled by Nix and his band and chosen with care. “We didn’t want to do songs that have been over-recorded and also want to pick ones that are beloved by our fans. For instance, we play 'Memory Maker' by Mel Tillis a lot at our dances, so I wanted to record it for this album. And I have been asked countless times through the years to please put 'Faded Love' by Bob Wills on an album."

"It's About Time" also introduces two news track, "First From the Last" and “The First Time to Fall,” both written by Jody's longtime friend Jerry Webb. "He's a great writer, singer, and musician in his own right and when I was looking for something new for this project, I thought of him. They’re really good country dance tunes and tell quite a story," Nix noted.

Jody Nix's dedication to preserving and celebrating the roots of country music shines through in "It's About Time." This album promises to be a treasured addition to the collections of western swing and country music fans everywhere.

Jody Nix is a renowned western swing and true country music artist from Texas. With a career spanning several decades, Nix is celebrated for his authentic sound and dedication to traditional country music. His music is a staple at dances and events across Texas, and he continues to inspire new generations of country music enthusiasts. He has recorded twelve albums and received a CMA nomination for “Album of the Year” in 1994. Today, they honor classic country artists while creating their own music, showcasing a smooth vocal blend and skillful musicianship. Their engaging performances include humorous banter with each other and the ultimate respect for the legends. The Malpass Brothers have toured with Don Helms, opened for Merle Haggard, and performed at notable venues like the Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry. They’ve shared the stage with country legends such as Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Marty Stuart, and more. Their latest album, “Lonely Street,” is out now, and their new TV show airs on RFD TV every weekend.
