Body meets neck: telecaster edition.
Twin tele's, one's going to be a modified take on the Richie Kotzen tele, the other one is a pinecaster with furniture wood and the cheapest hardware I could find. I wonder how they'll compare 😬

Some time ago, I decided to build a JEM GMC copy for myself.

The tricky bit is the Tree Of Life fingerboard inlay, I've never done such a thing. So while doing some tests I realized that the bit I already managed to rout (the "stalk") I routed flipped. I assumed the template with the text visible would re right side up, but apparently no. Was just comparing to the source material to decide on the color of the inlay and I noticed.

I toyed with the idea of finding another piece of ebony and doing this again but screw it. My copy will have a unique mirror image tree of life. :P

I keep trying to figure out what kind of finish I can apply at home without a spray booth etc. This body started off as a Hofner bass that I re-topped with a nice padouk piece, and now I'm trying the "nitoraqua" water-base using a combination of airbrush (with 40% of distilled water mixed in to make it sprayable) and brush (undiluted). We'll see how this experiment turns out.

Basswood body with burl poplar top in "lagoon burst", laminate maple neck + ebony fingerboard (22 frets). Dimarzio Tone Zone + Air Norton pickups.

The lacquer on the guitar body is now polished. Next: assembly, set-up and that's it!

Time to glue the binding on. The bending jig for the binding definitely saved me some work compared to the last time I was binding a similarly-shaped body.

I decided to spray some sealer on the face of the guitar before I glue on the binding. This is a nice moment since we can see the figure in the wood come out for the first time :)
