Nothing new to report fellow readers!! Except that if you haven't had the chance to check my book out now is the best time to do it. Oh, and it makes a great gift for that prospective broadcast student seeking to make his or her mark in the industry. Granted, the technology is much different than I went through but the passion and determination and dedication of sticking with it when times are the worst are no different now or will be in the future. Learn how I did it in "My Life As A Great Lakes Broadcaster." Get your copy on amazon.com; barnesandnoble.com; or schulerbooks.com. And please once you have read it, leave me a short review of what you thought ot it. I'm considering some other topics and could use some direction if I should continue or not. Thanks and Be safe, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Let's Regroup here again in 2022!!! (Picture from 1978@WFYC in Alma, Mi. when I was just starting out)

Hello Again, FB Page Subscribers!!! Thanks for hanging in there during this long Covid-19 Lockdown!! It has REALLY shutdown my sales in 2020 and prevented me from getting out and trying to meet many of you one-on-one and talk about the book in-person, which I had hoped to do long ago. But now there are "signs of life" that the Pandemic seems to be slowing, and the vaccine is being distributed to those who need it, I'm ready to make up for the past year. Now that I've had my shots I'm making myself available to anyone in the media or social media, online or in-person. I am willing to travel if needed to talk about "My Life As A Great Lakes Broadcaster," which again is my experiences albeit a short trip into Michigan's past history, broadcasting, and the way life use to be. The book can serve as a guide to the new broadcaster as to what to face in the industry, not technically, but how to work as a team and maintain a positive attitude and work ethic. Find "My Life As A Great Lakes Broadcaster" at amazon.com; barnesandnoble.com; schulerbooks.com, Barnes and Noble stores; Schuler Book stores; Kindles are also available!! And please check into my new FB Page of the same name and let me know what you thought after you have read it. Email me at [email protected] or 517-243-1892 and get me on your schedule today!!!

Hello again fans! Sorry that it's been so long between posts here but I'll try to keep you as much "in the loop" as I can. But I will tell you the best way is to get a copy of the book and...as Rocky The Flying Squirrel used to say...you will be as smart as "Mister Know-It-All." As you know, Covid-19 has kept us "locked up" many months, but thanks to the online services the book is available at amazon.com; barnesandnoble.com; schulerbooks.com or at Barnes and Noble and Schuler Books, if you have one of those stores nearby. I'm encouraged that here in Michigan Covid-19 rules may start to be relaxed and I may be able to get out and make appearances again, but not right away. Check out some of the past posts and pictures for the substance of the book, but if your interested in a career in radio broadcasting, or were part of it throughout the past 40 years you'll find my adventures may pattern yours. The one theme that echos through it all, old or new broadcaster, is that if you stay with this long it's because of PASSION and it ceases to become "just another job." So, give my book a read and I guarantee you'll learning something from it. If you do, come on back here and post a review on what you thought of it. Also people, don't hesitate to contact me if you want to talk more or me to come and do more for you at a class or an interview. Just let me know at [email protected]. or call 517-243-1892, leave a message or note and I will respond a.s.a.p.

It's been some time and the Covid virus has slowed every thing down for all of us, but I figured it was about time to provide an update and welcome the flood of newcomers!! Thanks all, and I hope you do more than simply "view" this page, but purchase the book for you or a friend who has an interest in radio broadcasting, it might open your eyes about some things. This post will give you a small pictorial of the last and longest job I had with the Michigan Radio Network working with a veteran team at the State Capitol. I do ask if you do read and like the book please return to my FB page and leave me a review on what you thought of it. There is a "Review - Ratings" on the left of the page. The book is available at amazon.com; barnesandnoble.com; schulerbooks.com or at Barnes and Noble and Schuler Books. Also people, don't hesititate to contact me if you want to do more at [email protected]. or call 517-243-1892.

Thanks everyone who have viewed my page in the last few weeks. I'm sorry I haven't been very active here, but most of the information you need to know is already out there. I will, however, come up with some new tasty tidbits in the next few days and maybe some visuals to go along with them. Several of my peers have told me the book is a great read, and one of my cousins even suggested I write a textbook from this. Maybe, maybe not, but there are educational hints throughout my radio portions that suggest what new broadcasters might think about which I will emphasize in the coming weeks. Remember, it's easy to find at Barnes and Noble and Schuler Books, and online and barnesandnoble.com; schulerbooks.com; and amazon.com If you read it and want to comment about it, come back here and tell me what you thought at the "Review" Section...or on Amazon.com!!!

Friends: I just wanted to repost this as a reminder that if you have purchased/read my book, please return to my FB page and leave me a review on what you thought of it. (There is a "Review - Ratings" selection on the left side of the page.) And I want you to be honest! It would help me greatly as I plan my next move. I'm working on some things, but haven't settled on anything . Never thought I'd be writing books, but I can, so I will.
If you haven't, head to amazon.com; barnesandnoble.com; schulerbooks.com; or go to Barnes and Noble or Schuler Books and find it on the shelf. Then tell me what you think.

Hey Folks, Figured it was about time to update this page, but not much to say with the current "Stay Home-Stay Safe" Order in force here in Michigan until at least May 1st. However, to give you a look behind some of the pages, as part of my 40-year climb up the ladder was 5 years at Gross Telecasting (WJIM-TV-AM-FM) Lansing, Mi. Now, WLNS-TV-6. It also launched my news career at the State Capitol. Its just one of the many stories in my over six-decade life, available at Amazon.com; barnesandnoble.com; schulerbooks.com or on the shelves at Barnes and Noble and Schulers Books.

Friends: Just a quick reminder that after you get a chance to read my book, please feel free to return and leave a comment or review on what you thought of it. (There is a "Review - Ratings" selection on the left side of the page.) It would help me greatly as I plan my next move as to what direction I want to take. I've had a few suggestions and some inspirations, but haven't settled on anything. Never thought I'd be writing, but it came easy the first time. We'll see if it does in the future.

Meanwhile, feel free to get a copy at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com or schulerbooks.com or in-store at Barnes and Noble or Schuler Books.

Folks, I am so OVERWHELMED with the response to my new Page and Group (which are essentially the same) and for that you deserve a HUGE THANK YOU!!! Now it's time for us to share that enjoyment and interest with those who haven't had a chance to read and react to it right here!! It's easy to do online at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and schulerbooks.com and in-stores Barnes and Noble and Schuler Books. There are selected other outlets too, but too widespread to list here. Book Summ

“My Life As A Great Lakes Broadcaster” is a true story that takes the reader back more than six decades to when the author and electronic communication were both in their infancy. It is a recollection of stories from Michigan broadcaster Bill Thompson, as he returns to his roots growing up on the family farm in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. It shows readers how he was proficient at performing music in band and orchestra, then became interested in speech at Remus Chippewa Hills High School. From there he moved on to five active years at Central Michigan University where Bill describes his broadcast and journalism training. That college training helped to combine all of those earlier interests into one, and it came up, radio!! That led to a 40-year career of rapid cultural technical, and personal changes. Once leaving CMU, the journey took Bill “up and down the dial” across the State of Michigan, from Alma to Sault Ste. Marie and South Haven, working in various radio jobs except for sales and engineering, before coming to Michigan’s Capitol City of Lansing where he settled into news reporting. After 12 years at two Lansing stations, Bill found his calling at a statewide radio news network for the next 23 years despite turmoil and five ownership changes. This book is an exciting journey that those who love Michigan history, culture and broadcasting, won’t want to finish until it’s over.
