Spotlight: Mat Najean Jazz Band from the brand new compilation Hey Mister Jesse's Fine BBQ.

Many of the top swing bands over the past decade have come out of France. While my French pronunciation is the worst, these bands are simply the best! I first discovered Mathieu Najean’s talented reed playing through a band of young musicians calling themselves Reverent Juke. Spuds and I were blown away by their hard swinging arrangements and playing. Wanting to play his own original compositions, Mathieu formed the Mat Najean Jazz Band in Paris in 2019. Their debut album "Panorama" was released last year on Juke Records. From their website: “Listening to this album is like discovering a great vinyl record you never knew existed. Except it's from today. Original compositions. Familiar, but fresh. Old, but new." Listen to the title track and you will surely be convinced!
