The 9 Principles of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival:
1. Wear white clothes during the whole festival
2. Do not eat meat or animal products (milk, eggs, etc.)
3. Keep your body clean
4. Do not drink alcohol
5. Do not lie, cheat or steal
6. No sexual activity during the festival
7. Do not eat food with a strong smell (garlic)
8. Keep and wash cooking utensils separately from those used in the event
0. Mourners should not attend the festival
The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is the largest celebration of its kind in Thailand.
Known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival -- the celebration is nine days of nonstop food and ceremonies; it is also called Jiya Chai, or เทศกาลกินเจ.

The ceremonies include walking on fire, climbing ladders made of sharp blades, and self-mutilation or inserting knives and sharp objects through the body. But, these rituals were not allowed this year due to the pandemic.

Koh Phangan is transforming from being most known for its monthly full moon party – to a popular digital nomad hub. A recent report named it the world’s top spot for a “workcation”.
➠ Location – Getting There – travel to Koh Phangan
All routes to Koh Phangan go through Koh Samui, Suratthani, or Koh Tao.
When planning a trip, important considerations:
The Suratthani pier is about one hour from the Suratthani airport and town center.
When seas are rough avoid speedboats; sea sickness is almost guaranteed.
⛴ The ferry from Suratthani is comfortable and takes about 2.5 hours.
🛵 Maybe easiest to travel by ferry from Suratthani with your car or scooter.

It empowers people to escape the rat race, quit your job, live simply, abandon consumerism, don’t buy a house, forget capitalism, don’t have kids, and skip marriage. People are opting to pass on materialism, and live “the chill life” instead.
In China, expectations are to work 9-9-6, or from 9a - 9p, six days per week.
China is so threatened by the movement of Lying Flat or 躺平, all reference to it is banned on social media.
