Gotta love a feel good post on Monday.📖✍️

is a stay-at-home mom with 2 lovely kids, married to Egyptian international footballer & is currently based in Belgium.🏡

I always ask content creators about their background story & love stories are definitely my all time favorite.🤷‍♀️

Bibi has met her husband at age 16, bravely followed her heart and started creating content while living abroad for his job.📸

She has lived in China, Canada, Portugal and of course she regularly visits Egypt as well.✈️

So she started creating content back in 2017 when a Canadian blogger suggested her to start a blog herself, and then spontaneously got her first real collab while living in Portugal when she only had 1000❗️followers.👩‍💻

➡️Then she realized blogging is a really fun & rewarding project.

I personally LOVE it how she’s not your typical blogger with a nailed down strategy, aiming at too specific goals.😌

She’s authentically sharing her life & journey and is super appreciative of her collabs.💌

In my next post I will share a little bit more about her approach on collabs, but for the first day of lockdown 2.0 I just wanted to share a bit of an inspirational feel good story.☀️

Is it still possible to start as a content creator and get sponsored anno 2020?🤔

This is a question I even ask myself from time to time, but the answer is: YEEEES.🥳

I even found a great example among one of my best friends: 🥰

She started blogging in March 2020 right in the middle of lockdown, because she got a little more time on her hands.📸

I can confirm that she has always been super into fashion ☺️ but for the first time she started creating content about it.💄

By the time summer hit she could call herself a Nano influencer with paid collabs and lots of gifted items.

➡️ Meaning that she gets free clothing, bags, beauty products and jewelry.🛍

Another thought that I would like to add is that some people still believe that content creators are just privileged people with more time, money or luck than others.🤔

My friend is a full time Legal Counsel who wants to inspire other women with her great sense of fashion, BUT who also puts a lot of effort and time in whatever she wants to achieve.❤️

Hello there ☺️

I want to share a little bit information about ad regulations for social media influencers as this is a widely discussed topic 📢.

Even experts in the field of influencer marketing or influencers themselves get confused sometimes 🤷‍♀️.

So let me share some important key takeaways 🔑:

if you are posting sponsored content you have to include

➡️ any form of monetary payment or gifted item counts as an ad.

↪️ unless you get something as a present without any instructions from the brand (meaning: if the brand is not monitoring your content in any kind of way) and you decide to post about it.

➡️ using Instagram’s brand partnership tool is NOT enough, it’s definitely a super nice feature but is still the only way to go.

Good morning & read about my interview with ☕️!

Also one of my oldest friends 👶💛...

I know he doesn’t really feel like a content creator & he also doesn’t put too much effort in building his tribe on Instagram 🙈. But as a Belgian parkour athlete he managed to get a 15K audience of people interested in his parkour tricks.🤘

So definitely worthy of having a chat & sharing his background story.🗞

How did he get picked up?

➡️ well first of all he was one of the first parkour athletes in Belgium & he started out when he was only 15.

➡️ as this was (and still is) a very unique & rare sport, he got casted to work for where he is the face of a television show but also works as a stand in.

➡️ so of course brands started to reach out for collaborations (mostly sports wear & gadgets)...

▶️ to strategy & consistency👌.

🚨please do not cheat. know that if you’re working with brands or pr agencies, they do have software to check your engagement & following.

Since I started this little side project during lockdown, I often get asked how on earth I get in touch with social media influencers.

Let me explain☺️!

🎓 First of all I studied Communications Management & did an art market/ luxury brand marketing related program at in Paris.

👉 So communications, marketing & creativity have always been my thing.

💼 Lived under the sun in Barcelona where I worked as an Account Manager for a big & market leading company in IT.

👩‍💻 Ended up back in Belgium working as an Account Manager for the creative industry in the fields of Advertising, Marketing & Communications, Influencer Marketing, Press & Media, Fashion!

common mistakes bloggers make & regret.☠️

In this post I want to share 3 mistakes a lot of bloggers have made along their journey.🚨

➡️ 1. Joining PODS.

POD’s are forums or groups (Whatsapp, Facebook, Telegram) where influencers alliance & give each other’s post a boost in order to increase reach and beat the algorithm.📈

Most influencers stop doing it once they realize it’s harmful for their personal brand.💡

➡️ 2. buying their own “giveaway”.

Sometimes influencers BUY a certain product together with other bloggers & organize a “giveaway” together.

The main goal is of course to get more followers. However I wouldn’t recommend using this trick.🤓

➡️ 3. Collaborating with a brand that didn’t really match their personal brand just because they couldn’t refuse the offer.🙈

As I have been chatting with quite a lot of content creators, I’ve gathered some cool tips on how to create your content:

➡️ Batch production days:

= Influencers take at least 1 day/week to prepare en create their content.📸

I am talking about taking pictures & recording videos but also writing captions, brainstorming, preparing new ideas.

While the storytelling might seem effortlessly coherent in their feed: content creators put a lot of preparation & dedication into it.🤹

➡️ Favorite apps?

Definitely the classic ones such as: Lightroom or VSCO but also Facetune, Snapseed & Tezza. 🤳

➡️ Feed control?

In order to keep your feed well organized it’s always a good idea to visually check in advance what a certain post will look like in your feed.👀

You can do this for example by putting your upcoming pictures next to each other in your VSCO gallery (or any kind of gallery).🎞

Something I really wanna talk about is:

⚡️brand deals vs. amount of followers.⚡️

Because yes: nano & micro influencers DO get nice offers from brands.🤩

They might even get better opportunities than the ones with a higher amount of followers who cheated their way up.🤫

Because in the end: having a niche and a real engaging community is way more important.💸

Professionals with an interest in the technical part of marketing will probably already know him. Herman is a freelance marketeer, teacher and a true guru when it comes to analytics.📊⁣

➡️ In his course “marketing analytics” he teaches students how to analyse TikTok & IG metrics.👏⁣

➡️ I remember the first conversation we ever had, and it was about TikTok. I think it’s just me who squeezes it into every conversation possible.🙊⁣

➡️ However it was totally worth it asking him about it. He told me that the algorithm of TikTok is way smarter than the IG algorithm. TikTok is way better at predicting what content you’ll like.🤯⁣

➡️ Let’s end this post with a quick fact check: did you know that TikTok existed under the name .ly for many years before the TikTok mania?👀 The name was changed to TikTok when the app was bought by a big Chinese company.🤝⁣

Award-winning brand manager, LinkedIn content queen & Instagrammer.⁣

I actually have been looking forward to getting Laura featured on this page, because I met her 5 years ago in Paris.🙃⁣

Even though she was still a student back then (we both were🤓), she left a lasting impression on me. I honestly thought she was a very remarkable, ambitious but fun girl.😎⁣

And I have been following her journey on both LinkedIn & Instagram ever since🎢:⁣

•Journey ⁣

➡️ She started building her personal brand around 5 years ago and she quickly reached a 10K+ tribe on both LinkedIn & Instagram.⁣

➡️ Did you know she even got recognized in the streets as “Laura from LinkedIn”.😅⁣

➡️ When she moved from Paris to Brussels 2 years ago she suddenly stopped creating content.😔 Why? = the fear of being judged.⁣

➡️ But luckily this story has a kick-ass happy ending: during lockdown, when she had a lot more time on her hands, she rediscovered her passion for content creation and started creating straight away (including TikTok videos 😂).💃🏼⁣

➡️ But most important: she successfully started her own online business as an Instagram strategist & coach!👩‍💻⁣

•Mindset & vision⁣

➡️ She literally knows everything about hashtags & algorithms, but when you ask her about growth hacks ... she tells you not to focus on them but to be intentional with your content.🤔⁣

➡️ Why? Because engagement with the right audience is far more important than “likes for likes”. These vanity metrics won’t pay the bills when you start your own business and it’s not even a solid base when you are after brand deals.💡⁣

➡️ I personally trust Laura’s opinion on this one because YES she collaborates with brands and sometimes gets paid to post & YES she managed to get clients for her business within the first 2 weeks after launching.🥂⁣

This colorful blogger started her IG journey 7 years ago, back in the golden days when the market wasn’t as saturated as it is now. She witnessed basically all the changes in trends & the algorithm over the past period of time.😎⁣

This is why I was super excited to have a chat with Laure and to ask her the truth behind: ⁣🌈 payouts, brand deals, influencer events but also mental health.👇⁣

•Let’s talk money straight away, right?💰 ...⁣

I personally think being a content creator is a very underestimated job and therefore I want to discuss openly how much money they make and how much effort they are putting into their personal brand.

➡️ This week Laure received 6 packages from brands she collaborates with.🎉 This includes: lots of make-up & beauty stuff 💅 + gadgets for the kids.👶🏻⁣

➡️ It’s really hard to discuss prices per post because they really vary depending on the deal. But what I can reveal is that she recently got €1200 for 5 posts in the feed + some in her story.🤝⁣

➡️ We discussed her favorite collabs. These include working with L’Oréal for several years now & her favorite hairdresser

•Blogger events & blogger friends⁣

➡️ Blogger events are pretty cool and always good fun. Most bloggers are friends ... but some really can’t stand each other’s😉.⁣

➡️ Insta hubby? While we think all boyfriends & husbands are forced to participate 😂, truth is a lot of influencers work together with other bloggers to shoot their content.⁣😀

•Mental health & authenticity⁣

➡️ Did you know that a lot of influencers use “PODs” = applications where they are “forced” to like each other content & leave comments as soon as possible in order to get boosted by the algorithm? We both agreed that this might not be the most authentic way to build your community but I am looking forward to discuss this topic with other influencers as well...🧐⁣

➡️ She only follows accounts that make her feel comfortable in her own skin.💜⁣

➡️ Did you know that IG might hide likes in the future (is already happening in US)?🙀 Will definitely write more about this topic later on, but we definitely support this movement💪...

I wanna start this exciting journey by sharing what I learned from a little chat with Simon Smetryns, founder of news and media website TAGMAG.🎯

For those who don't know TAGMAG: it's Flanders' most popular video platform for youngsters.😎

They manage to keep Gen Z informed & entertained with a bunch of video content across multiple platforms such as: their website, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.⁣🤟

Cool key takeaways of my interview with Simon🤓:

• TAGMAG was founded in 2013, but Simon has worked in television production for many years before that. So producing video content for other channels than television, was the right way to go.

• We talked about what's up next for TAGMAG and some of the little secrets I can reveal are: there is gonna be a TAGMAG app anytime soon 📲 & a new series with one of the insiders in September 2020.😺
P.S.: insiders are the fixed crew of influencers they work with.⁣✌️

• Aside from creating content from scratch they also share content that they either pick up on social media or receive in their inbox. So basically if you make funny videos yourself, you might get featured. How cool is that?⁣🙀

• We discussed TikTok. I mean I think anyone working in marketing or with social media in general can't ignore the TikTok hype any longer.😀

➡️ Simon and I agreed on 2 things: the hype is huge and nobody fully understands the mysterious algorithm of TikTok.🙈
