Music label & laboratory LISALA is a Brussels based experimental music label run by artist Pierre Clemens (BE 1970) for is own productions and collaborations.

Pierre Clemens is a self-taught composer and performer of his own music. His artist statement urges him to experiment and explore permanently. As well in his personal studio in Brussels as in public performances, he uses basic materials made of personal records (Field recording) or sound archives. He uses also broadcast waves in real time with sometimes an addition of music synthetizer. His trend

for discovery and mutation, make it difficult to place him in any category or genre. He is the autor of 6 albums. Already at the age of thirteen he started some experiments with tapes recordings. But it’s only after his studies in Art that he deepened his sound research by mixing tape recordings with electro-accoustic compositions. He tried to fuse both to create some very special universes which never repeat. Self-taught in the acoustic field, he tries to approach our present musical univers with a genuine perception. He is also willing to build links between his sound creations and his visual artworks (drawings, paintings and videos) This research is today still going on. The soundspace is to him like an echo related to landscape image creation. This landscape is not an oppressing reality, because it comes from a very intimate part of ourself. The landscape is a mental image of our soul. The tension between the microscopic world and the infinite space is at work in these electro-acoustic compositions.

Nebula (from the Latin for 'nebula') is a set of six pieces in a tonal universe dear to Pierre Clemens. A self-taught composer, coming from the world of visual arts, This creative jack-of-all-trades delivers here an opus composed of unpublished sound scores. Playing on an agglomeration of repetitive textures, he entangles ethereal harmonies, specific to his musical construction as we know it. Pierre Clemens is a UFO in contemporary music creation. To such an extent that no label would be satisfactory to catalogue his work of the last twenty years. Nebula is an opportunity for him to reconnect with this pictorial tone, which he seeks to bring to light. It is a theatre of clues, allowing the listener to create a universe of sound images, memories, and sometimes nostalgia.

Nebula (du latin « Nébuleuse ») est un ensemble de six pièces reprenant un univers tonal cher à Pierre Clemens. Compositeur autodidacte, venant du monde des arts visuels ce touche- à-tout créatif, nous livre ici un opus composé de partitions sonores inédites. Jouant sur un aggloméra de textures répétitives, il enchevêtre les harmonies éthérées, propre à sa construction musicale tels qu’on lui connait. Pierre Clemens est un ovni dans la création musicale contemporaine. A tel point qu’aucune étiquette ne serait satisfaire à un catalogage de son travail de ces vingt dernières années. Nebula est pour lui l’occasion de renouer avec cette tonalité imagée, qu’il cherche à faire apparaitre. Il s’agit d’un théâtre des indices, permettant à l’auditeur de se créer un univers fait d’images sonores, de mémoires, de nostalgie parfois.

Nebula (van het Latijn voor 'nevel') is een set van zes stukken in een tonaal universum dierbaar aan Pierre Clemens. Deze creatieve duizendpoot is een autodidact, afkomstig uit de wereld van de beeldende kunst. Deze creatieve duizendpoot levert hier een opus bestaande uit onuitgegeven geluidsscores. Spelend op een agglomeratie van repetitieve texturen, verstrengelt hij etherische harmonieën, eigen aan zijn muzikale constructie zoals wij die kennen. Pierre Clemens is een UFO in de hedendaagse muziekcreatie. Zozeer zelfs dat geen enkel etiket zou volstaan om zijn werk van de laatste twintig jaar te catalogiseren. De Nebula is voor hem een gelegenheid om zich opnieuw te verbinden met deze picturale toon, die hij aan het licht wil brengen. Het is een theater van aanwijzingen, dat de luisteraar in staat stelt een universum van klankbeelden, herinneringen en soms nostalgie te creëren.

With “Inner Whispers”, Pierre Clemens presents an astonishing collection of sober pieces, each one so diverse as the next. Here we find the results of a long process of creatives elaborations. They are made up of everything that charactarise the sound pieces of this 51- year-old self-taught composer : a theatre of whispers and clues. The sounds he arranges allow the listener to create a world of images and emotions. Pierre Clemens plays the role of the one who makes abstract sound textures or concrete sounds to appear.
This music, which can be described as electro-acoustic, takes us on a journey that is as much aural as visual . The sounds he entangles give us a landscape that is both imaginary and concrete. Inner whispers is the result of years of work, which is for him a path to musical creation. Made by trial error and repentance, Pierre Clemens keeps a youthfulness in his creation, which takes us by the hand in order to disconnect us from a heavy reality which is ours.

Avec Inner Whispers, Pierre Clemens nous livre ici un ensemble étonnant de pièces sonores aussi diverses les unes que les autres. Elles sont le fruit d'un long processus d'élaborations créatives, composées de tout ce qui caractérise les pièces sonores de ce compositeur autodidacte de 51 ans : Un théâtre de murmures et d'indices. Les sons qu'il agence permettent à l'auditeur de se forger un univers fait d'images et d'émotions. Pierre Clemens joue à celui qui fait apparaitre et découvrir des textures sonores abstraites ou des sons concrets.
Cette musique que l'on peut qualifier d'électro acoustique, nous amène dans un voyage autant sonore que visuel, tant les sons qu'il enchevêtre, nous donnent à penser un paysage autant imaginaire que concret. Inner whispers (en français "Murmures intérieurs") est l'aboutissement d'années de travail, qui sont pour lui un cheminement d'explorations musicale fait de tâtonnements et de repentirs, Pierre Clemens garde la fraicheur de l'étonnement, qui nous transporte au de-là d'un réel trop oppressant
