BLOOMSTREET 11 has won the Cristal Grand Prix for Best Animated Short at this year's Annecy Animation Film Fest. And there was more good news, especially for Ghent based production company Lunanime. FUNAN, for which they are the Belgian co-producer (with Screen Flanders as an investor), grabbed the Cristal Grand Prix for Best Animated Feature, while THIS MAGNIFICENT CAKE (prod: Beast Animation in association with Lunanime) received the André-Martin Prize. The hybrid animated documentary Another Day Of Life by Raúl de la Fuente and Damian Nenow will have its world premiere this evening at the Cannes Film Festival! The film will be presented in Official Selection - Out of Competition. Flanders based animation studio Walking the Dog co-produced the film with support from Screen Flanders and the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds.

The Flandriens of Animation are heading for Stuttgart this week! No less than five animation projects initiated from Flanders are being presented at the Animation Production Days: the animated feature JUUL (Fabrique Fantastique) and the animated series THE DAILY FABLE (Grid Animation), MISTER PAPER (A Private View), MUSH-MUSH AND THE MUSHABLES (Thuristar) and OLLIE (Lunanime). Also screening in Stuttgart is the Screen Flanders supported animated feature PLOEY - YOU NEVER FLY ALONE, co-produced for Flanders by Cyborn.

Hulu in the US and broadcasters in EMEA have acquired animated comedy My Knight & Me, produced by TeamTO in France and Thuristar in Belgium, and distributed by Cake.

Screen Flanders is to invest 995,000 EUR in seven new audiovisual projects. Four of the titles due to receive support in the economic fund’s most recent call are animation projects, including the animated series THREE LITTLE NINJAS DELIVERY SERVICE and SIR MOUSE and the animated features GOUDHEIDSWAANZIN and LATTE AND THE MAGIC WATERSTONE. Other supported projects include two Nordic-Belgian crime series and a new zombie feature from A Team Productions, the producers behind current Benelux box-office hit GANGSTA.
