Since 2017, the Government of Bangladesh is running the Oral Cholera Vaccination (OCV) campaign with the support of WHO, UNHCR, and other strategic partners across 34 Rohingya camps of Ukhiya and Teknaf. This aims to facilitate services to the 869,095 Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) population from one-year-old children to upwards.
Relief International (RI) as an implementing partner in Camp-3, is here to ensure the success of the OCV campaign with the support of other partners. The vaccination in this camp took place on October 12th and 13 th, 2021 and covered a total of 36,272 people in 8,336 households. Here, the Community Health Workers (CHWs) have played a vital role in raising awareness and motivating the community on the importance of OCV. Sensitization meetings with community leaders, as well as training for Camp-3's CHWs and volunteers, were held to ensure a seamless campaign.
With this large OCV program, it is expected that the FDMN population will be safe from the deadly cholera outbreak!
