The key to success is morale. 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖.Born in Rangamati. Inspired by his father, he was inspired to read the law. After graduating in law from the University of London, she is now a Supreme Court lawyer. This emerging lawyer wants to provide legal aid to the helpless people of his community as well as contribute to the legal profession. He has brought various unknown issues in his life to Risingbd. Risingbd's Supreme Court reporter Mehedi Hasan Dalim interviewed.
Risingbd: I want to know about you-
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: Born in 1991 in Rangamati Hill District. Father's name is Kalyan Mitra Chakma. Baba is in the Benapole office as Assistant Commissioner of Customs. We are three siblings. I am second. My elder sister graduated from Chittagong University and is now a housewife. Her husband is the Deputy Commissioner of Income Trucks. The younger brother graduated from North South Pharmacy and is working at Beximco. I was in Khulna from the age of one due to my father's job transfer. I study up to class six in Khulna Government Coronation Girls School. Then I moved to Chittagong. I passed SSC in 2007 from Chittagong Agrabad Girls School. I passed HSC in 2006 from Chittagong Commerce College. Later I moved to Dhaka. With the dream of becoming a barrister, I was admitted to Bhuiyan Academy under the University of London. I completed my graduation in law in 2013. I completed LLM in 2015 from Dhanmondi Eastern University. In 2016, I was listed as a lawyer in the Dhaka Judge's Court. In 2019, I was listed as a lawyer in the Supreme Court.
Risingbd: Who inspired you to read the law?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: Abbu was a political science student at Jahangirnagar University. Liked politics. My grandfather, uncle all do politics. My father wanted me to study barrister and do politics. Although I was a student with a business background. Originally inspired by my father, I got admitted in law to fulfill his dream.
Risingbd: How many Chakma lawyers are there in the Supreme Court?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: There are many ethnic groups in Bangladesh. The Chakmas are the largest ethnic group. To my knowledge, there have been several lawyers from the Chakma community. There is a Chakma DIG in the Supreme Court. As far as I know, I am the second woman Supreme Court lawyer from the Chakma community. Before me, there was a woman lawyer from Khagrachari in the Supreme Court. However, I am a woman lawyer of the first Supreme Court of Rangamati from the Chakma community.
Risingbd: Representing the Chakma community in the Supreme Court, how does it feel?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: I think it is a great honor to be an Advocate of the Supreme Court. My pride is that I can represent my nation. I am in a place where I can provide legal assistance to my community and other communities. I would like to say another thing, grandfather and uncle are social workers. My grandfather was the chairman of Langadu upazila. At present my own uncle is the chairman of the council of Langadu Union. We have been helping people hereditarily.
Risingbd: Have you ever been neglected as a small ethnic group in education or profession?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: Honestly, I have faced many such questions many times, either directly or indirectly. For example, if I got higher marks in the exam or got a good result, they would comment that I am a Chakma girl from Rangamati, how can I get such a good result. I have faced some bad situations like this. Even when I came to the Supreme Court, I faced such a bad situation. I was given an indirect threat by a Chakma girl. How far can I go? He will look after me. The person who made this comment is my senior. This is certainly not desirable from seniors. Just as we will respect adults a lot, we expect affection and cooperation from adults.
Risingbd: What qualities do you think are needed for success?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: I think the most important thing for success is morale. You must have dedication and you must have power of will. If you think you can do it, you can.
Risingbd: Tell us about the culture or festivals of the Chakma community?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: Basically we are Chakma Buddhists. Our main religious event is the Buddhist full moon. Culturally, the people of our hilly areas have a different culture. The Biju festival is the one we celebrate the most. Which we celebrate on 13th April every year. Which is called Vaishabi festival. We have a lot of fun these days. April 14 is the day after April 13 is the New Year. We celebrate the New Year with much pomp. We also celebrate many festivals.
Risingbd: Tell us about the king of the Chakma community?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: Our King Barrister Debashish Roy. He is the head of the Chakma circle. There are three circles among the hill tribes. One of them is Chakma Circle. The rule is, if anyone is in trouble or in legal trouble, he will go to the king first. He will try to resolve it through arbitration. If you are upset with his trial, you can come to court. This is basically the rule.
Risingbd: Tell us about future plans?
𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙢𝙖: I am already a Supreme Court lawyer. The dream is to become a great lawyer. When the time comes, I will go to England to get a barrister's degree. If established in the legal profession, there is a desire to do politics.
