DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Hello, Creative Artists!

In light of recent requests, we have decided to extend the deadline for submissions for the Fall 2023 issue of MUSE, titled Tower of Babble. The new deadline is the 25th of November, 2023.

The biblical story of the "Tower of Babel," speaks of a time when people on Earth spoke a common language and decided to build a tall tower, the Tower of Babel, reaching up to the heavens to make a name for themselves. God saw this as an act of human arrogance and decided to split their common language into different languages so that people were no longer able to understand each other.
The power of language and communication have therefore been part of human history since time immemorial. Through “babble”, we convey thoughts, emotions, and ideas, which can either bring us closer or create distance depending on how we use it.

With the Fall 2023 issue, we request ULABIANS across all departments to contribute their writings (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or other creative works in both Bangla and English) and artwork (photographs or paintings). Even though writings that incorporate the theme are encouraged, submissions that are not based on the theme are also welcome.

Please send your contributions to: [email protected]

Thematic submissions are highly encouraged and will be prioritised in the selection process.

"My native land, fifty years ago you blossomed into life from the dreams and longings of millions of people. With the blood of their hearts they scribbled a single name: Bangladesh."
"You are a beautiful being; your lush, natural greens, the brilliant vibrancy of artwork on your rickshaws, your many rivers of peaceful tranquility running like veins through your body, your 6 different moods, altogether make you uniquely you."
"I mean, the very first thing that comes to most people’s mind regarding Bangladesh is ‘leave’. My question is, did they spare any extra time to look around and find the beauty in the depth of your flaws?"
"Everytime we meet in a different place I find a different you. In the late-night in Tanguar Haor, I found you in a black saree that had a long achal embroidered with tiny-tiny sparkling stars on it."

Read our cover story to know how the 7 writers painted various pictures of one country-Bangladesh, in shades greater than the 7 colors of the rainbow.

"A fraction of people flourished in academics, let their passion for art and literature overflow on the internet, and succeeded in avoiding poverty altogether by opening up new businesses online. However, for others being stuck at home all day like a recluse has made them delay work or school-related assignments, while others fell victim to perpetrators on the internet in the hopes of transforming their lives and some individuals fell below the poverty line."
