Abstract This paper aims to examine the isolation of Lactobacillus from dairy products (milk, curd, and yogurt), extraction of Bacteriocin from it as well as to determine their inhibitory effect against few fungal skin pathogens and bacterial skin pathogens such as: Candida albicans, Aspergillus sp., Malassezia sp., Fusarium sp., and Penicillium sp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogens, Klebsiella sp. The antagonistic activity of…...

Abstract Disease-causing phytoplasmas are transmitted by insect. Their distribution and transmission of the diseases with which they are associated are strongly linked to the feeding habits and biology of the insect vectors and the conditions of the host plants. This study was carried out in Côte d’Ivoire, specifically in the Grand-Lahou locality (an area endemic to phytoplasma disease), with a view to identifying the insect carriers and vectors of cassava phytoplasma....

Title:
🌿 Bird Diversity in Ghana’s Tropical Forest: 20 Years After Logging

Description:
Understanding how biodiversity recovers after human disturbance is crucial in today's conservation-driven world. A recent study titled “A bird community structure of a tropical forest, twenty years after logging, in Ghana”, published in the Journal of Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (JBES), explores this topic in detail.

Over two decades after selective logging in the Kakum Conservation Area, Ghana, researchers recorded 135 bird species across eight forest blocks. The study used standardized transect methods and ecological indices like Shannon-Wiener and jackknife estimators to assess richness and diversity.

📌 Key findings:

High species diversity even two decades post-logging.

12 distinct feeding guilds were observed.

Forest blocks shared significant species overlap, indicating ecosystem stability.

These results show that selectively logged tropical forests can regain substantial biodiversity, though continued protection and monitoring are essential.

Abstract Oldenlandia umbellata L. is widely used for its medicinal properties, particularly in pharmaceutical industries and conservation endeavors. Our study aimed to enhance in vitro plant regeneration techniques by supplementing thidiazuron (TDZ) and cytokinins (CKs) (KI; kinetin, BAP; 6-benzylaminopurine), bolstering conservation efforts and therapeutic applications. The results revealed concentration-dependent responses, with KI (6.96 µM) and BAP (4.44 µM) significantly promoting callus formation, while TDZ (12-18 days) notably accelerated shoot induction....

Abstract The decoction of the leaves of Parquetina nigrescens (Apocynaceae) is used by Ivorian traditional healers for the treatment of inflammation. Regarding this traditional practice, the present study aimed at evaluating through outa scientific approach the anti-inflammatory activity of the aqueous extracts from Parquetinanigrescens leaves. The extracts were tested according to the model of acute rat paw oedema induced by 1% carrageenan....

Abstract Propolis, a natural resinous substance collected by honeybees from buds and exudates of plants, is known for its use in the beehive as a protective barrier against intruders. It is widely used as a popular remedy in folk medicine and as a constituent of bio-cosmetics. Recently, it is extensively used in food and beverages to improve health and prevent diseases....

Abstract This study aims to analyze the effect of polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) mixture composition on the physical properties of wood-plastic composites (WPC) with red meranti (Shorea spp.) sawdust as filler. The target of density of the wood products was 0.7 g/cm3. The ratio of sawdust and plastic was 40%:60% by adding 3% of MAH as coupling agent. The HPDE and PP ratio treatments consisted of 100% HDPE (treatment A); 75% HDPE: 25% PP (B); 50% HDPE: 50% PP (C), 25% HDPE: 75% PP (D) and 100% PP (E)....

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the appropriate amount of dietary calcium to reduce the impact of density on laying performance in Achatina fulica. To do this, 1380 breeding animals were divided into 8 batches reared at different densities. For each rearing density, the breeding stock were classified into 4 sub-lots and fed diets differing in their calcium content....

Abstract CVD or cardiovascular disorders are one of the major factors causing significant increases in mortality worldwide. One of the major infections in the heart’s blood vessels is atherosclerosis, which is mainly caused by the deposition of fats, high blood pressure, and diabetics. The use of synthetic medicine can cure cardiovascular disorders. Although some side effects have been observed using synthetic medicine....
