বৈয়ামটিকে ঝাঁকিয়ে দিতেই, পিঁপড়েগুলো পরস্পরকে মেরে ফেলতে শুরু করবে। লাল পিঁপড়ারা ধারণা করবে─ কালো পিঁপড়াগুলো তাদের শত্রু, এবং কালো পিঁপড়ারা মনে করতে আরম্ভ করবে─ লাল পিঁপড়াগুলো তাদের শত্রু। অথচ, প্রকৃত শত্রু হচ্ছে─ বৈয়ামটিকে যে ঝাঁকিয়ে দিয়েছিলো, সে।
