নিজের অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে করে স্ত্রী-সন্তানের লাশ নিয়ে বিয়ানীবাজারে আসলেন ড্রাইভার ফারুক !

অ্যাম্বুলেন্স চালনা শুরুর পর থেকে বহু লাশ ও রোগী বয়ে নিয়ে অনেক জায়গায় গেছেন তিনি। কিন্তু জানতেন লাশের ‘ওজন’ এতটা হয়। কিন্তু এবার সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় নিহত নিজেরই স্ত্রী ও সন্তানের লাশ অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে সামনে এগুতে পারলেন না চালক ফারুক আহমদ।

থেমে গেলো তাঁর হাত। অ্যাম্বুলেন্সের সামনের রাস্তা ঝাপসা হয়ে এলো চোখের জলে।

ঘটনাটি সোমবার (১৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি) সিলেট এমএজি ওসমানী মেডিকেলে কলেজ হাসপাতালের লাশকাটা ঘরের সামনে ঘটে।

সিলেট জেলার বিয়ানীবাজার পৌর এলাকার নয়াগ্রামের বাসিন্দা ফারুক আহমদ (৪৮)। প্রায় ২২ বছর ধরে অ্যাম্বুলেন্স চালান। পেশার কারণেই দীর্ঘদিন বহু লাশ ও রোগী বয়ে নিয়ে গেছেন তিনি। এ নিয়ে অনেক স্মৃতি তাঁর। কিন্তু অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে নিজেই স্ত্রী ও সন্তানের লাশ তোলার মতো পরিস্থিতির সৃষ্টি হবে- এমন কথা দুঃস্বপ্নেও ভাবেননি তিনি। তাই স্ত্রী-সন্তানের লাশবাহী অ্যাম্বুলেন্সের চালকের আসনে বসেও তিনি আর এগোতে পারলেন না।

রবিবার (১২ ফেব্রুয়ারি) বিকেলে সিলেটের গোলাপগঞ্জের হাজীপুর এওলাটিকর এলাকায় ট্রাক ও সিএনজিচালিত অটোরিকশার মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষে চারজন নিহত হন। তাঁদের দুজন হলেন- ফারুক আহমদের স্ত্রী রাশেদা বেগম (৩৮) ও মেয়ে ফারিয়া আক্তার (১৬)। রাশেদা বেগম বিয়ানীবাজার স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে বাবুর্চির কাজ করতেন। ফারিয়া আক্তার সম্প্রতি এসএসসি পরীক্ষা পাসের পর সিলেটের দক্ষিণ সুরমায় একটি কলেজে ভর্তি হয়েছিলেন।

জানা যায়, রাশেদা বেগম চিকিৎসক দেখানোর জন্য রোববার বিকেলে সিএনজিচালিত অটোরিকশাযোগে সিলেটের দিকে রওনা হয়েছিলেন। সঙ্গে মেয়ে ফারিয়া আক্তার তার বই কেনার জন্য মায়ের সিলেট আসতে চান। পথে ট্রাকের সঙ্গে অটোরিকশাটির মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ হয়। খবর পাওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে হাসপাতালে এসে ফারুক আহমদ জানতে পারেন, স্ত্রী রাশেদা বেগম দুর্ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা গেছেন, আর মেয়ে গুরুতর আহত। পরে হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় রবিবার দিবাগত রাত ১২টার দিকে ফারুকের মেয়ে ফারিয়া মারা যান।

ওসমানী হাসপাতালে গিয়ে দেখা যায়- স্ত্রী ও মেয়ে হারানোর শোকে ফারুক মিয়া বাকরুদ্ধ। শোকে যেন ফারুকের চোখের জল শুকিয়ে গেছে। তাঁকে সান্ত্বনা দিচ্ছিলেন সহকর্মী অ্যাম্বুলেন্স চালকেরা। সোমবার দুপুরে ফারুকের স্ত্রী ও মেয়ের লাশ বিয়ানীবাজারে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়।

ফারুকের দুই মেয়ে ও এক ছেলে। বড় মেয়ে ফারহানা আক্তার সিলেটে একটি বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে আইন বিভাগে পড়াশোনা করছেন। ছোট ছেলে ফরহাদ হোসেন পড়ে নবম শ্রেণিতে।

ফারুক আহমদ একসময় অন্যের অ্যাম্বুলেন্স চালালেও বর্তমানে তাঁর দুটি অ্যাম্বুলেন্স রয়েছে। একটি নিজে মাঝেমধ্যে চালান, অপরটি ভাড়ায় দেন।
