2. Moral Excellence: A virtuous person acts ethically because it aligns with their good character, not because of fear of punishment or desire for reward.

3. Eudaimonia: This is a central concept in virtue ethics, often translated as "flourishing" or "the good life." It refers to living a life of moral excellence and fulfillment.

4. Practical Wisdom (Phronesis): Virtue ethics recognizes the importance of practical judgment to act rightly in various situations.

Key Thinker: Aristotle

Aristotle is the most prominent figure in virtue ethics. In his work Nicomachean Ethics, he emphasized that virtues are learned through practice and habit and that moral behavior lies in finding the "golden mean" between extremes of deficiency and excess. For example:

Courage is the mean between cowardice and recklessness.

Generosity is the mean between stinginess and extravagance.
