🙋‍♂️আসুন পরিচয় করিয়ে দেই প্রকতিতে ঘেরা এক ঝকঝকে শহর যেখানে বিগত এক যুগ ধরে বসবাস করছি যেখানে মমতায় ঘেরা পাহাড়, সাগর, এবং অনেক ট্রেইলের চারপাশ।(Vancouver)ভ্যানকুভার হল কানাডার (Canada) তৃতীয় এবং ব্রিটিশ কলাম্বিয়া (British Columbia) প্রদেশের সর্ববৃহৎ শহর। এই শহরটি কানাডার অন্যতম বাণিজ্যকেন্দ্রও বটে। সাবেক ব্রিটিশ নেভি অফিসার জর্জ ভ্যানকুভারের নামে এই শহরের নামকরণ করা হয়। ব্রিটিশ কলাম্বিয়ার প্রধান বাণিজ্যকেন্দ্র হলেও, এটি এখানকার রাজধানী (Capital) শহর নয়। এর রাজধানী হল ভিক্টোরিয়া( Victoria)যেখানে ব্রিটিশ কলাম্বিয়ার সরকারি কেন্দ্রীয় অফিস আদালতের অবস্থান। ভ্যানকুভার শহর আসলে বড় দেখতে মনে হলেও তা প্রকৃতপক্ষে এতটা বড় নয়। মূল ভ্যানকুভার শহরের আয়তন কিন্তু এতটা বড় নয়। আশেপাশের ছোট ছোট শহর যেমন বার্নাবি( Burnaby), সারে(Surrey), রিচমন্ড(Richmond), নিউ ওয়েষ্টমিনিস্টার(New Westminster) এবং নর্থ ভ্যানকুভারকে ( North Vancouver)সাথে নিয়েই মেট্রো ভ্যানকুভার গঠিত। মূল ভ্যানকুভারের আয়তন আমাদের ঢাকা শহরের প্রায় অর্ধেক। ভৌগলিকভাবে, পুরো শহরটি সাগর এবং পাহাড়-পর্বত দ্বারা আবৃত। বিশেষ করে উত্তর ভ্যানকুভার শহরটির পুরোটাই একটি পাহাড়ি অঞ্চল। তাই দক্ষিণপূর্ব এশিয়ার বিভিন্ন দেশের মত এখানেও সাগর এবং পাহাড়ের সমন্বয় চোখে লাগার মত। বিস্তারিতভাবে বললে, পুরো ব্রিটিশ কলাম্বিয়া প্রদেশই প্যাসিফিক সাগরের ধারে অবস্থিত। যার জন্যে এখানকার অঞ্চলগুলো কানাডার অন্যান্য প্রদেশের অঞ্চলগুলো থেকে উষ্ণতর। ভ্যানকুভারের আবহাওয়া গ্রীষ্মকালে সর্বোচ্চ ৩২ ডিগ্রি পর্যন্ত উঠে যায় এবং শীতকালে সর্বনিম্ন -১১ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস পর্যন্ত নেমে যায়। শীতকালে এখানে তুষারপাত কম হয় এবং বৃষ্টিপাতের পরিমাণ অনেকটা বেশি হয়। এখানে প্রায় একটানা এক মাস বিরতিহীন বৃষ্টিপাতের রেকর্ড আছে। এরকম যদি আমাদের দেশে হত তবে, পুরো দেশ পানির তলে ডুবে যেত। মেট্রো ভ্যানকুভারের জনসংখ্যা প্রায় ২৪ লাখের মতন। এ শহরকে আপনি একটি বহুজাতিক শহরও বলতে পারেন। এখানে নানান দেশ থেকে আগত লোকজন একসঙ্গে বসবাস করছেন। তবে সংখ্যার দিক থেকে চাইনিজ এবং দক্ষিণপূর্ব এশিয়ান লোকজনদের সংখ্যাই বেশি। পাশাপাশি বেশিরভাগ ব্যবসা বাণিজ্য তাদের দ্বারাই নিয়ন্ত্রিত। তাই শহরের কোন ব্যাস্ত রাস্তায় হাঁটলে মনে হতে পারে যে, আপনি কানাডাতে নয় চীনের সাংহাই বা গুয়াংজু শহরে আগমন করেছেন। এই শহরের যাতায়াত ব্যবস্থাও খুবই উন্নত। আপনি ট্রানজিট বাসে করে বা স্কাইট্রেনে (মেট্রোট্রেন)করে শহরের একপ্রান্ত থেকে অন্য প্রান্তে সহজে যাতায়াত করতে পারেন। শহরের প্রত্যেকটি এলাকায় কমিউনিটি পার্ক রয়েছে। এবং এখানে আকর্ষণীয় পর্যটনকেন্দ্রের অভাব নেই। গ্রীষ্মকালে এখানে দেশী-বিদেশী প্রচুর পর্যটকের সমাগন হয়। তাই এই প্রবন্ধের আয়োজন ভ্যানকুভার শহরের উল্লেখযোগ্য পর্যটনকেন্দ্রগুলোকে নিয়ে। যেহেতু এই শহরে অনেকগুলো পর্যটন আকর্ষণ রয়েছে তাই উক্ত প্রবন্ধে সব কিছুর বর্ণনা করলে তা অনেক লম্বা এক প্রবন্ধ হবে । আমি আশা করি যে ভ্যানকুভারের একটি মৌলিক ধারণা বর্ণনা করতে পারছি।
