ARCHFEST, an yearly event to exhibit students' works throughout the semester and organized by the Department of Architecture, State University of Bangladesh, is themed ‘Threshold, Transition, and Transformation’ for the year 2022.

About the Theme: ‘Threshold, Transition, and Transformation’

Architectural community, all over the world, have been pushed to go back over their practice and priorities since the outbreak of COVID-19. The pandemic's devastation of the general populace has shown the lack of resilience in our built environment, specifically in urban settings. Although its effects were not uniformly experienced, it enabled us to reconsider and integrate significant thresholds into the architectural design.

Architecture is a field where changes can be slow, so an ‘immediate response’ to the pandemic required a while to take off. As soon the community had picked up this concept of inexplicable transition, they started sharing ideas, initiatives, and design suggestions that would assist us in navigating through this unanticipated transformation spatially.

Following this disposition, academia worldwide has adapted similar strategies and so as the Department of Architecture, State University of Bangladesh. Despite the limitation of online education, the faculty and students of DoA, SUB tried to accommodate these approaches in the academic exercises, both in studios and theory courses. Focusing on the students' works, over the span of the last two and half years of Pandemic, ARCHFEST 2022 includes exhibition, design charrette, and lecture series by leading architectural thinkers and industry personalities reflecting ‘Threshold, Transition, and Transformation’.

We cordially invite you to join this journey of our students and share your valuable opinions and wisdom to inspire us for a meaningful future.

IAB is delighted to announce that, after successful completion of the 1st cycle (2018-2019) of “KSRM Awards for Future Architects: Best Undergraduate Thesis” the 2nd cycle (2019-2020) of the same is commencing for this year - 2020. The award is intended to recognize the best thesis/final projects of the graduating students of IAB accredited architecture schools of Bangladesh, to honor the studio teachers, the schools, and to showcase the selected exemplary thesis/ final projects of the architecture schools.

The Official Letter, Brief with Declaration form has already been sent to the Heads of IAB accredited Architecture Departments on October 31, 2020.
Each school would be able to submit maximum of 3 (three) projects in this award cycle. Project/Thesis that had its defense from July 2019 to June 2020 is eligible to take part in the current Award Cycle of 2020.
IAB is now calling for entries from the IAB accredited architecture schools to submit their nominated projects for the 2nd cycle aforesaid program.

COLLOQUIUM 09_student project lecture series___

The 9th architecture student lecture series was held on Thursday, 11th of APRIL, 2019 at PRIMEASIA UNIVERSITY. Students from different universities showed their studio works over there.

TANZILA ISLAM, student of American International University-Bangladesh, Dhaka was the first lecturer. She had shown her thesis project “Fine arts Institute.”

MD. NAZMUL ISLAM SOURAV, student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology was the second. He had shown his thesis project " ADAPTIVE REUSE OF AN ABANDONED INDUSTRY SITE: MOHINI MILL, KUSTIA.”

FAISAL CHOWDHURY SHAON, student of State University of Bangladesh was the third lecturer. He had shown his thesis project named “Khulna divisional public library."

At last AR. NAFIUL ISLAM FARAZI has given an informative lecture for the students about ARCHIBOND and also introduced the members of ARCHIBOND.

From PRIMEASIA UNIVERSITY Professor Mohammad Saifuzzaman, Chairman of Sonargaon University has given a important speech for the students and gave thanks to ARCHIBOND for the seminar. He also gave certificates to the speakers & ARCHIBOND Team.

From PU architecture department Adeeba Ahsan Amina, lecturer of Dept. of Architecture, PU has given a closing speech for the students and gave thanks to ARCHIBOND for the seminar. She also gave certificates to the speakers.

At the end Ar. NAFIUL ISLAM FARAZI gave certificates to the moderators of PU who were Mehedi, Al amin & Jinia . He also gave a souvenir to Professor Mohammad Saifuzzaman from ARCHIBOND for the department of architecture,PU.

We are also thankful to our sponsor, PU Architecture department & Photographer for the successful event.
