Meet Abu Md Nurul Huda, a dedicated humanitarian worker, who has devoted the past twelve years to serving in .
He has been a key figure in empowering refugee communities, particularly during the 2017 Rohingya influx, while working with UNHCR Bangladesh’s Community Based Protection (CBP) team.
For Huda in the role of an Assistant Community Based Protection Officer, the typical day is dynamic and engaging. The morning usually begins with a team meeting to discuss ongoing projects and plan the day's tasks. Following that, visits to refugee camps are made to support community leaders and address any concerns or issues.
Huda said, “My personal connection to refugees goes back to my own family’s experience in 1971 when they were displaced during the Bangladesh Liberation War. I’ve heard harrowing stories about displacement from my elders, particularly my maternal uncle.”
As Huda approaches retirement, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with UNHCR and the positive impact he believes he has made.
"I hope that my work has left a lasting legacy and that the communities we've served continue to thrive," he said.
Abu Md Nurul Huda's dedication and expertise have been invaluable to UNHCR's efforts in Bangladesh.
Thank you for your tireless efforts and compassion. As he retires, we wish him all the best for his next chapter.
