Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan and acclaimed director Raihan Rafi have collaborated on a film titled 'Toofan'. This project is a joint effort between Dhaka-based production house Alpha-I Studios, the OTT platform Chorki, and the renowned Indian production company SVF.
During a press conference held at a Dhaka hotel, Raihan Rafi expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "I'm thrilled as three major companies - Alpha-I, Chorki, and SVF - have joined forces to produce two films. Additionally, this marks my first collaboration with Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan. When such significant production houses and a superstar unite, expectations naturally soar. We're just getting started and seek everyone's blessings. However, I can confidently say that 'Toofan' will be a pivotal moment in Bangla cinema."
Shakib Khan also shared his excitement about 'Toofan,' highlighting, "I've always emphasized the immense potential within Bangladeshi films. There's not only a substantial domestic market but also a significant audience abroad. With 300 million Bengali-speaking individuals worldwide, it's crucial to offer them quality films. The film industry must provide conducive working conditions for professionals, and the audience will do the rest."
Drawing attention to his previous film 'Priyotoma,' he mentioned, "That film marked the beginning of a new era in Bangla cinema. Reports in newspapers, TV, and social media showcased long queues and advanced ticket sales in numerous countries like France, Italy, Ireland, the US, Canada, and Australia."
Speaking about the storyline of the new film, Shakib Khan added, "I can sum it up in one sentence: such a narrative has never been seen in Bangla cinema before. I'm proud that something unique is about to happen, which will uplift everyone's spirits."
Managing Director of Alpha-i Studios, Shahriar Shakil, affirmed, "Alpha-i Studios has consistently been a trailblazer in Bangladesh's entertainment sphere. Understanding the audience's desire for quality content, we've consistently strived to deliver that. This time, in collaboration with SVF and Chorki, we aim to elevate the Bangla cinema market and reach a global audience."
CEO of Chorki, Redoan Rony, remarked, "This is an opportune moment for the Bangla film industry. Alpha-i, Chorki, and SVF have initiated this effort to attract Bengali-speaking audiences to theaters by providing international standard content."
On December 9, these three entities unveiled their first joint production film, 'Domm' (Till the Last Breath), directed by Redoan Rony and featuring Chanchal Chowdhury in the lead role, during another press conference in Dhaka.
