Full moon, as seen from the International Space Station. Although we are in space, the distance that separates us from the moon is still far.. We are almost 400 km from Earth while the average distance between Earth and the moon is over 384, 000 km.

Gazing at the full Moon from the ISS. Even though we are up here in space, we are still quite the distance away from the Moon. We are at an altitude of around 400 km from Earth while the average distance between Earth and the Moon is around 384, 000 km.

The Real Matrix: Physicist Says Our Universe Is Likely a Neural Network.

What exactly is reality? And how do we define it? Is everything around us real? Or are we living inside a simulated universe? There have been revealing papers that have pondered how objective reality is.
A new theory proposed by an America-Russian physicist suggests that our universe is, in fact, a massive neural network, redefining again what reality is. A natural network can be explained as an interconnected computer system that resembles, in specific ways, the human brain. A neural network can learn as it goes along, changing how it is used depending on the information given to particular nodes and connections.

Uranus has never looked better. Really.

Webb's first glimpse at this ice giant highlights bright atmospheric features, as well as 11 of the planet’s 13 rings. Only Voyager 2 and Keck (with adaptive optics) have imaged the planet's faintest rings before, and never as clearly as this.

Uranus rotates on its side, causing its poles to experience 42 years of sunlight and 42 years of darkness. (It takes 84 years to orbit the Sun.) When Voyager flew by Uranus in 1986, it was summer at its south pole. Currently, the south pole is out of view, facing the darkness of space.

Check out the polar cap (bright white area) on the right side of the image. Webb reveals a subtle enhanced brightening at its center. This polar cap appears in the direct sunlight of summer and vanishes in the fall. Webb's data will help us to understand this mystery.

This was only a 12-minute exposure image! And It's just the tip of the ice(planet)berg for what Webb will uncover.

An Entire Swarm of Black Holes Has Been Caught Moving Through The Milky Way 😨🔥🕳
⠀⠀
Sometimes in science when you set out to find something you had predicted, you instead find something quite different. This was the case recently when astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope examined the core of a globular cluster, a “ball” of densely packed old stars named NGC 6397, looking for one central intermediate-mass black hole. Instead, they unexpectedly found a whole swarm of small black holes.

There are two well-established types of black holes: the stellar-mass black hole that is formed when a large star runs out of fuel and collapses, and the supermassive black hole that is believed to exist in the center of every large galaxy. Apart from these two types, astronomers believe that a middle-of-the-road type of black hole should also exist – the intermediate-mass black hole, with a mass of 100 to 100,000 times the mass of our sun – and there are several candidates for these but only a few confirmed cases.
⠀⠀
These researchers’ analysis of data from the Hubble Space Telescope and Gaia Space Observatory on this globular cluster did not provide the evidence of a medium-sized black hole at its core that the astronomers were looking for. Instead, they made the very first detection of a collection of black holes at the center of a globular cluster.
⠀⠀
Astronomers targeted this particular globular cluster, NGC 6397, because at 7,800 light-years away, it’s one of the closest globular clusters to Earth. More importantly, scientists think that a globular cluster is an ideal place to find medium-sized black holes because of the dense collection of stars at their cores.
⠀⠀
Globular clusters are large spherical collections of stars that orbit on the peripheries of galaxies. The clusters are ancient, sometimes nearly as old as the universe itself. A core-collapsed globular cluster, such as NGC 6397, is one that is old enough that the more massive stars have gravitated toward the center of the cluster, and the younger stars have traveled out towards its outskirts. This gives the globular cluster a very dense nucleus.
