Good morning everyone.

A couple of interesting weather features today, including a mid-level trough, which is expected to see shower and thunderstorm development along the ranges this morning. Propagation of these showers and storms toward coastal parts is possible in the afternoon with the aid of strengthening westerly steering winds.

Later this evening, a cold front moves up the coastline is expected to bring fresh and gusty S'ly winds as well as low cloud and the possibility of light showers in its wake.

Good morning everyone. A large upper low remains in the area, causing showers and thunderstorms to redevelop over much of eastern NSW today.

We're even seeing a few showers and the odd storm early this morning. There are weak upper steering winds over the area, so thunderstorms will be relatively slow moving if/when they develop - leading to potentially heavy falls.

Good morning everyone. A bit of a dynamic situation weather-wise today, with a coastal trough forecast to move onshore during Monday and a mid-level trough to move through the area this morning. An upper low near the VIC/NSW border may also enhance showers and thunderstorm activity throughout eastern NSW this afternoon.

Due to the dynamic nature of the coastal trough and upper low, it is difficult to say with certainty what today holds - but it is likely that we are in for a few showers and the chance of a thunderstorm, which the BoM has tipped as 'possibly severe'. This is probably due to the fact that upper winds are quite light, so any showers or thunderstorms are likely to be slow moving.

We shall watch the day with interest. - Paul

Good morning everyone. Who needs an alarm clock when you have a 4.30am storm!

Today's forecast sees an trough further inland hanging about, with instability and moisture remaining throughout the day. As we've been seeing the last few hours, this is generating some small storms moving in from the West.

The BoM aren't tipping severe thunderstorms along the coast at this stage, but we will update you if the situation changes. Attached is the latest BoM Thunderstorm Forecast for NSW. - Paul

Good morning everyone. Instability and surface heating will bring storm development over the ranges to the west during the afternoon, but this is expected to initially be quite isolated and may not impact coastal parts. From Wednesday evening a mid-level trough moves across the region making storms likely from the evening until Thursday morning.

A southerly change will move up the coast tomorrow (Thursday) morning/early afternoon bringing cooler and showery conditions afterwards. Let's hope for some relief from this swampy weather!

Good morning all. An upper trough is moving in from the west, pairing with an unstable environment over the ranges and daytime heating - bringing the chance of showers and storms today.

If you've been watching the radar the last few days, you'll have noticed that storms really haven't moved terribly fast off the ranges. This is set to change over the next few days, with improving upper winds (shear). Upper winds from the SW today, so we shall see whether storms do make it across parts of the Sydney basin to impact coastal parts later on.

The instability looks set to continue tomorrow (Wed) as well, with upper winds more W/NW'ly which tends to favour us on the coast a little more. We shall see..

Good morning and Happy New Year all!

Today we are hoping for some rain to water the grass. A weak coastal trough is stalling near the south coast, and this will be replaced by another more substantial trough bringing a fresh Southerly wind change along the southern and central parts of the NSW coast today and tomorrow.

There's some instability around today, coupled with some nice heating - which may lead to a shower and the chance of a storm during the afternoon and with the Southerly wind change.

Let's hope for some much-needed rain, the grass sure needs it! - Paul

Good afternoon all. Some showers and isolated storm cells are beginning to develop, with the Southerly change moving up the coast from the south in the coming 3-4 hours or so.

As per our forecast this morning, these showers and storms are fast moving due to strong upper atmospheric winds.

No BoM Severe Thunderstorm Warnings at present, however a warning is present for inland areas of the Northern Hunter forecast district.
